There's nothing wrong with seeing a therapist. Some people just assume that people who see them are "crazy" but actually many of us go through emotional times.. or psychological stress... seeing a therapist actually will help you learn where "the problem" is coming from etc. I've seen one before and it was useful for the sessions I went to.. Anyways, I don't think its outside of the US but more of.. lack of knowledge about therapy..
In Europe it is considered a sign of weakness, which is rediculous. If more people saw a therapist when they felt the need to do so, the world would be a much better place.
I highly agree, I mean even if you don't have "a problem" seeing a therapist helps too. I don't know... there's lots of issues that could have been solved (like failure at marriage, etc) if they found the root of their problems w/ therapy
Actually, well I was put on a waiting list... and I didn't have time to go back because of school.. but honestly, therapy can be a long thing.. depends on your situation. My therapist said I would need to go in and out of therapy for the rest of my life So it really depends on your situtation, if it was something great that happened at childhood, that obviously effects your whole life and is harder to "fix" but if its from... say an event such as a death of a loved one, well then therapy is "shorter" and.. you are ready when you're ready (you'll know if once your mood changes.. and find acceptance)
ouch that his home My wife (seperated but not divorced) always wanted us to see one together and I refused. If I could turn back the clock, I would see one right away
Yeah, its' never too late! Well actually my therapist mentioned it to me lol. But yes, never too late.
Maybe one day I will be back with her. Who knows. Maybe I need to see a shrink to help me figure out what I really want.
Oh who isn't we don't really know ourselves! I think studying psychology is creepier when you start to realize things yourself.. (I'm gonna have fun ) haha
DP can't be that bad Yeah, seems like it at times for most Think it should be required in most professional
i agree that it can help, but as you said it can take very long they might just be telling you to come back just so they can make more money. this country (USA) and maybe even the whole world is cruel like that. they take your money and let you die. for example, doctors perscribe drugs just to keep you alive, not to cure you so you can visit them weekly or monthly and a few months later you go in for a visit and are told that your doctor is on a vacation. this is my opinion and i am not talking about all doctors or therapists just the bad ones very cruel world that we live in
That's a very good point actually... I forgot to look at that aspect... I guess to best way to solve your problem is byyourself.. in a way? (study psychology) but with a therapist's aid (they have a lots of knowledge in that field obviously) will help you realize. (and I totally agree with perscribed medicine.. I'm sure we can find a cure but that wouldn't make as much money as.... making people take medicine monthly now is it?)
Actually not always. People who see therapists aren't on all in the verge of harming themselves... There are sports therapists as well they can help you cope with stress and what not. It's like paying to talk to a friend who actually gives good advice
I think as you get older, you are going to find that is very much not the case. Everyone has issues and a therapist lets you talk out those issues.
exactly. when you get to the point where every single relationship of yours ends for similar reasons, you realize that there is something going on in your life that needs to be adressed. Just as an example.
