I'm trying to register a two word domain name and the .com is taken. but not the wordone-wordtwo.com or the wordonewordtwo.net. So I was wondering... which should I register? I was kinda leaning towards the .net because when I get enough money I can always buy the name from the person who owns it. What do you think?
its not actutally wordonewordtwo.net or XXXXXX.net i was just using those as examples so no one steals the name!
I'm not a fan of the "-" either but imagine having the .com domain with the "-" and/or the .net name without the "-" while as the .com without the "-" is already taken by someone else blah blah.. This can be as confusing as it sounds. And just because .com's are the way to go, I'd take it, even if I have to use a hyphen in the name.
I think it really depends on the name and what your trying to do with it if its a business, professional type site the .com if its a hobby, enterainment type site go with the .net with no -
I think Im going to do the .net then buy the .com from the guy who owns it now... after I make some money off of my site...
Possibly a mistake. On the day you are going to contact the guy, if he is wise enough he will first make a quick research. If he detects that you own the .net and if it gives the feeling of a website that generates revenue, then you might face a good price for the .com as a result. That's what I'd do if I were the .com owner. So I suggest that you try taking the domain over before developing the .net
Don't know, check the whois if it's not a private registration? Assume his domain values more now that a .net website is up and looks to be a successful project? Finally, he can simply guess where your interest is coming from.
Hmmm... I really don't know... I'll sleep on it and see what happens. Or if anyone else wants to comment on the subject
