Greetings The F"#king HostGator is driving me crazy. I had a server with them year ago, i was not happy with their performance and decided cancel the deal. So 9 months later i check my creditcard statement, and quess what i find? Those Motherf"#"rs had charged me from 3 months of server use, what is best is that the account was closed and they even charged from the closed months and reopened my account. I called them and had a little discussion about this incident, they told me that i had never cancelled the account. I asked them why they now suddently reopened the account and charged for 3 months, it's been 12 months since i had servers there. They just told me that my creditcard didnt accept the charged before and now it did. I told them that i had no problems with my creditcard as i have been useing it monthly for my other hosting, porn and all other internet activities and it has never been closed, not even for a day etc... So i wonder what the hell is going on there. Now they want some fking cancel number that i don't have anymore. I'm 100% sure i did cancel, now they refuse to refund me, so i'm force to sue those motherf"#rs, i told them that i will call my creditcard company and refuse any payments to those troll F"#Ks. I don't recommend ShitGator to anyone here, they have cheap prices and ok uptime, but if they charge you like that..... Sir. Turhapuro
I know hostgator is a serious company from my knowledge .... I know they have some problems with suport but in rest a great company
That is bad. Good luck with that. I had a similar issue with EV1Servers but they gave almost excellent support. They charged two times somehow (one manually and one automatic) and when i fax them credit card statement of next month. They charged one of them back.
I had a problem with HG. Apparently someone hacked my HG site and put up a mail server and was using it to spam. They locked my account and shut me down. The responses to my emails took 3 days to get them to remove the mail folder they identified to me but blocked my access to clean it up. So I had about 60 domains down for 3 days....
Sorry, if you can't find the cancellation ticket then how can you be 100% sure you canceled? Perhaps you planned on canceling but didn't? I am in no way defending them, however I am asking questions as what you said didn't really click properly with me.

I have seen that many people like Hostgator and always wondering why because its promos are very tricky, pricing not so cheap, features so, so, and there are lots of complaints against overall service and performance posted in many forums out there
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I first came accross HG in an adsense banner on my site, never trusted them however. My business principle always tells me to go with the big guys, and HostGator doesn't just fit.
I gotta disagree with ya there. Hostgator is a big host, that is for sure. But there change in business lately has changed there ways.
I don't usually sign up to the very popular hosts or even the fairly popular ones. I do that because with bigger companies, you get slower support time and with smaller companies, you get faster support.
Could be a fluke for them. Or it could have been one ding-dong having a bad day and deciding to miss a few details with customer payments and cancels.
Well i know it because i received an cancellation email from them. I just don't have it anymore. Now i have contacted my creditcard company and i will get my money back from there. The bad part is that they closed my creditcard and now they will send me another one, what a mess! Also i heard that it will take 25 days to get my money back... Grrr... Sir. Turhapuro
The reason why I ignore smaller hosting companies is because with the big names you are likely to stay up longer. Even if support is poor, that does not matter. I've seen so many out there complaining that their website went down overnight and all data lost. And I bet their support was great at some point. It's difficult to stay competitive in the web hosting business these days. Prices are going lower and you have to be great to attract customers. But at the end of the day you realise it is just not worth it. A big player will always back his business up with other services besides web hosting to make sure it stays alive. I've been in the hosting business myself, and I had to pay server renewal fees till the last customer's contract expired even though it was not earning me anything. Other guys would just shut their servers down when they feel like they had enough of it. Customer would lose his site, maybe access to his domain if purchased with the same hosting "company". And these are not fairy tales but real facts. If you need your site up for a year or two, then it doesn't matter that much who you are hosting it with. If you dare stay up for longer without having to keep moving sites, then stick to a real host.
