Paying for blog posts?

    Hi,

For a beginner blogger like me, who has some initial cash to invest, does it make economic sense to pay people to update your blog? Basically, is it likely that you can generate more in ad revenue than in the cost to pay the blogger?

I'm interested in turning one of my niche sites into something better with paid forum postings and blog postings. I'd rather sit back and watch the money come in rather than waste time building links, posting on forums, writing blogs etc, even if it means some initial investment up front!

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts!

    Mike.

In the beginning your expenditure will exceed income.

As time progresses, your blog will be known to more people. It may get Pagerank and then you can sell a few links on your sidebar/ sell blog posts.

And if one of the posts written by your writers hits the front page of Digg, then be prepared for an enormous traffic boost. If you can maintain that, money will flow

It rather depends on the niche field that you are targeting.

If there is profit in future, you need to calculate and make that profit yourself.
So, do your homework :) :p

Ok, that makes sense. I hadn't planned to make a profit for a long time. I am currently interested in creating new content and writing posts on other forums. Also, link building seems to be the way to go. Is this something that is recommended to be paid for, or better to do yourself for more "natural" results?

Do a bit of link building in the beginning. It isn't easy to rank for competitive phrases with a completely new domain. Keep the content flowing and with time, the engines will love ya :)

Yes link building is very important. I ignore link building mostly currently but i know it should be done while adding content. I recommend you build links at the same time but i should admit i like to pay for content instead of links currently..

So the trick is to just find a lot of sites within my niche and just request links? Is this what is meant by link building? Or do you mean commenting on other forums/blogs etc with signatures and just "build up backlinks"? I just want to clarify before I launch into one of these massive tasks!
