    Hello,
just noticed today that dp does not have any copyright at all on these forums.

Has it been always been like that ? And if so does that mean any user can copy paste and content off the forums here on their website since dp got no copyright or how does it go to be exact if someone does not post that copyright @ their site on footer, does that site still has copyright ownership of the content they have on their site?

lol, you think that if a website doesn't say "copyright (c)" then they aren't protected by copyright laws and/or don't have to follow them? oh man... my IQ just dropped 2 points from opening this thread.

as stated above, just because digital does not display a copyright symbol, it does not mean you can freely distribute the content. Of course there will always be people that scrape sites etc.

i have little knowledge of forums n copyright details of DP but i would guess that each post is copyright of the original post (if for example they posted an article or whatever), but the overall copyright would be of digitalpoint.

As soon as somebody writes something it is automatically copyright protected. You don't need to say that it is.

    I would guess at both.

If somebody copied all my posts then I could sue them. If somebody copied all the forums then Shawn could sue them.

My posts are my intellectual property and I have granted DP permission to use them.

Ok so if i want to copy content off the forums here, i can just contact the person who posted instead of asking dp's permission?

And does it also work if i just get dp's permission and not care to get permission from the user who posted content ?

Usually on a forum, all original text remains the property of the author/poster. The same as the text is the view and opinion of the individual and not necessarily that of the website itself.

If somebody copies your post, it's up to you to pursure copyright infringement and not Digipoint.

If somebody copies the website itself, then it's Digipoint who pursues it.

Somebody qualified feel free to correct me if i'm wrong on any of the above.
