I would have suggested John CHow in the beginning when he wasnt doing so many reviews. But because he does so many I and alot of other readers have just started ignoring them, I tell you straight I dont read them anymore. As for shoemoney! Damn that is alot of money and he actually did one recently. For a guy named harpoonz. JohnChows Blog also came in the top 100 at technocrati and at that time the price was $750, and he got I believe 3 reviews at that time.
if you 've read the thread, you will see it is John chow selling blog post for 300 and shoemoney selling for 2500
Personally I'm pretty feed up of John now! He talks about food and payed reviews 80% of the time now..
John likes to talk like he's making huuuuge bucks on his blog but apparently it's not so high rolling as he claims. He did an interview for the National Post newspaper and surprisingly, he came right out and divulged exact figures that he made for January: $3,440.66. Only $536.58 of that came from Google Ad Sense. The article also says that he started monetizing the site only seven months ago and he's making ten times now what he did when he first started, which by my math would mean a first month's income of ~$300. Don't get me wrong, $3,500 isn't something that I would sneeze at, but for a guy that likes to take photographs of his $1,200 dinner bill and talk about being a high roller, he's making less than $42K a year from his site. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/financialpost/story.html?id=d70c7b0d-011f-48e5-aa0a-cebe776b4d5a
He also owns thetechzone.com Im pretty sure thats bringing in some nice cash as well. Also he made about 7k last month.
The problem with John is that he is trying to teach people how to make money from blogs but he is forgetting to point out that you have to get lots of traffic first. In fact, once you have lots of traffic, it is not that difficult to monetize it with all the different options available to us today. His popularity soared because his friends got him on the front page of Digg last fall and then he got even more popular when Digg banned him. I never thought that his content is interesting since most of the SEO material can be found on a thousand other sites and I am not particularly interested in his eating habits or, in general, his personal life. I give him props for getting this far but honestly, I don't see how he can keep this going for much longer. Then again, he might just prove me wrong and I have no problem with that.
If you cant afford John Chow, why not get one in his Daughters blog? Ashley Chow? I might just to see what she thinks of my site. Also ill get a payed review with John Chow's blog too becouse i want to know what it will do for traffic and stuff, im just curious
No offence to ShoeMoney but for $2500 I could easily buy a good quality PR 5 site and make much more out o it...
For a guy like you, may be better buy a $2500 site. However, for a company that actually sell product, that 2500 is well worth. A one page Ads on magazine cost more than 2500. If JasonB 's webhosting got a great review from Shoemoney, i believe he can earn double of 2500 in no time One time Kevin Rose drink a cup of tea during diggnation. That tea bag company draw in extra 10K in a few week. God know if it is still John Chow and please, if you are a real guru that earn big time. Don't use bootleg Hello Kitty stuff. Or at least don't take a picture of it
Ok that way you're absolutely right. And yeah, its better than giving an ad in a magazine coz people might side skip a magazine ad but they'd surely check out something endorsed or reviewed by shoemoney!
Was an April fools day joke. He left the script on his blog for everyone. Just do a refresh. BTW - If you read John Chows recent blog. He sold his company and blog. He does not disclose the price. But says it puts him in the 1% bracket. So I guess this ends the topic discussion really.
