I was visiting a forum the other day trying to get a question answered so I did a keyword search within the forum. I found a great post that went into detail answering my question and helping me tremendously (great content). At the end of the post he offered the link to the product I was looking into and then offered his affiliate link just below that (telling me that was what it was). I was very willing to make a purchase through his affiliate link because he had done such a thoughtful job of getting me to click it. It occurred to me that affiliates don't really need their own sites to maintain. I bet many just add their content onto other well established sites and make their money that way. People are quick to say that is a spammy method, but if the content is truly helpful and unique, then it seems like a win-win situation. Anyone currently doing this?
Keep in mind he is an exception to the rule. If you are going to be a successful affiliate marketer, the best route to go is to have your own website. Also, keep in mind that what you did was an exception to the rule, too. Many people (especially other affiliate marketers) will not normally use the affiliate link if provided. Jim
I agree with all of you. IMO it's a great way to make a few bucks , but earning through a forums post is not a stable income stream. If you have a website and you make e.g. 3 sales/leads per day , you can expect alot of more sales/leads.
Yes, this has been known for ages that you can earn money without having a website. You can using Adwords, you can write reprintable articles and have your aff links in them, you could put your affiliate link in the forums that allow it in your sigs. There are a few ways that you can promote it without having a site. But at the end of the day you are not in control of the resource that has your affiliate link and they could easily replace it with there's or they could take it down, etc. At least if you have a site you have a more solid income and instead of promoting one product time and time again in different articles and websites that will take time, why not just put a few affiliate ads on your website from a few good affiliates and all that promoting that you would have done with that one affiliate link you could just promote the site instead that has all of your affiliate links. Don't you think a site is a much better idea? I definately do.
there are many affiliate they use just adwords or yahoo search marketing or adcenter to promote products. there are many using blogs lens myspace but the problem that there are another face of affiliate marketing and many problem such as cookies, are merchant is honest to drive traffic to his web site. advantages to get you web site: * pick your visitors adress * upsell them related products * give them gifts and encourage them to buy using your link at this moment you can verify if the merchant are honest or not, upsell them another products and build relationship with them * people will trust you and your business will grow for long term
You don't have to have your own full content site, but a lead capture page promoting your affiliate products would be nice to build a list.
Well its good he had a link to the product, but the bad thing is, he is missing out on page rank, on option to capture leads email addresses, to upsel 10x bigger sales;
I suppose he is also missing out on the opportunity to someday sell a website that he has built up. You can't sell posts, but you can sell a website with a page rank, backlinks, quality content & income.
That's so true. Look at Youtube for example. It took them about 6 or more months to get established and before you know it they are selling their business for billions.
Well, if you're a serious affiliate, then you need your own website. Think of latest google quality score updates etc; its good to have one well built website;
affiliate marketing it isn't all about the traffic on your page. it's about selling. if you have your own website you can pre-sell the product, upsell other relative products, collect leads that could become sales in the future and most important with your own website you can test. because at the end it's all about testing
Why wouldn't you want your own page given how easy it is these days? This is not 1997 when that was a much more difficult thing to do.
After google's upgrade, adword only allows one link for all ads, lets said you are an affiliate of a shoe company, only one affilitae that are early into the party can display lets said shoe.com in their ads, others can't, that is where landing page comes in, and you can convince your customer with your landing page, an most importantly, collect their emails! Bottom line is, affiliate with a website is far better.
sure sure, all nice and good. Except that you can (in addition) pull up a website from scratch on a domain, some blogger, Adsense and whatelse in under 10mins. Seriously. You can use adwords and forums sigs....yes...but putting up a website has advantages...and as said you can do that in 10mins...so its not a big deal.
