phpLD recomended Hosting?

You can select a basic package which is enought for a directory

I dont think hostgator can give this.

crystaltech has very good hosting for directories as well.

 

Hosted by hostgator and hostmonster, both work fine

 

This is their baby pack? OMG 100gig and 1tb of bandwidth should do you per month!

i've been using hostgator for almost a year and overall am satisfied. Their chat support is a bit weak, you are better off emailing them if you have anything beyond a newbie question.

I also find the support at lunarpages to be top notch, if they had a proper reseller program I imagine I would probably have chosen them instead.

Malcolm, are all of your directories hosted at hostgator? if they are, are they all on seperate IP's? i always see a lot of concern about a bunch of directories being on the same IP.

The reason im asking is that after ive setup a directory i will setup a few more in time, im looking at hostgator but also been reading about someones confusion regarding seperate IP's and what package he could do that on at hostgator, this person was getting mixed answers.

I use too Hostgator Baby pack 100Gb space - 1000Gb bandwith, without problems, runing currently 18-20 sites, 7-8 is directory site from this. Good&fast support i'm satisfied with them
Having a resellerspanel account too but it's a little bit more expensive than Hostgator.

 

longhand, hope you dont mind me asking, are your directories all on the same IP at hosgator?

 

btw. i'm not have yet too much experiences with hosting needs. Can someone explain where starts when is not enough a shared hosting? At what traffic what amount of running PHPLD directories paralelly will need use a dedicated server.
Or tell an example with a PHPBB forum and daily averag visitors. Really i'm curious about the limits of shared hosting.

Why do You ask this? What can be the disdvantage of this?

 

Mostly because quite often ive seen submitters asking if a bunch of directories from one owner are all from the same IP, they say its not a good idea to link those directories to each other if their on the same IP, and i guess someone buying featured links for example may be put off if their all on the same IP.

I may be wrong but its concerning me, as i plan to start some directories and if i can il get them on seperate IP's, thats why i mentioned ixwebhosting in this thread as they offer 8 Dedicated IP Addresses.

 

All my directories are niche directories except one, so different submitters on each so it doesn't problem at me.
