    Pagerank becomes useless once the domain is dropped.

    thats not completely true, i bought a domain that was dropped before -- i developed it as soon as i got it and now its expecting a pr5 :) with better quality backlinks, if you know how to manage and handle it, no problems will come.

    then thats the real pagerank, the toolbar updates after the pr updates or during it so it has the real google information.

    I've experimented with a PR4 domain once. It lasted for weeks until it disappeared slowly.
    How long have you had yours for?

    Next time, keep in mind that you'll rarely see a valid PR4 domain being dropped.

    PR is all about the backlinks.

    First thing regarding the fact that it was showing up on seologs as having a PR4 just before you bought. When you checked at that time it was still cached in google (site:www.DOMAINNAME.com). Now its not cached so seologs says its fake.

    Second thing, a domain's PR really does not disappear when it drops. It disappears once/if all the backlinks disappear. That site only has 3 backilnks that have ZERO PR. It likely had some good backlinks pointing to it earlier.

    Check the backlinks BEFORE you buy any domain, dropped or not.

    Your domain will lose it PR4 toolbar on the next update.

    Key thing with dropped domains;
    backlinks;
    backlinks that stay around;
    develop the site immediately;
    get cached in G asap if you lost the cache;
    start adding some more links.

    If all those things happen you'll keep the PR and it'll grow. I know based on SEVERAL domains that i currently own.

    Good luck.

    I'm will assume the following. Your PR3 domain was showing PR3 recently (sometime in March???).

    Also do you have any type of website up for the domain? Very important when you are trying to keep PR. If its just parked depending on how its parked it might not show up when Google visits the domain.

    When you go to google . com

    Type in;

    site:www.WHATEVER YOUR DOMAIN IS.com

    Does anything show up? If not you lost the G cache. Get more backlinks ASAP (does not matter what PR) and it will show up again.

    Regarding the long term, basically if the links that where giving the domain the PR before it dropped stay pointing to that domain the PR should not change.
