namecheap is 7.80 or something with code. You get free protection then. In godaddy you pay something like 3 for the protection.

How fast is 1and1 with registering domains?

I registered one domain with a firm I picked up at DP (that sells domains for $2.95), it needed them 3 days from the time I filled-in the form for buying domain on their web-site to finally see the domain set up in the user-account, with godaddy.com it's done in minutes.

Took me around 1 hour to get in control of the domain I purchased from 1AND1 a year ago.
Not sure how reliable they are these days however.

I've always used godaddy.com for my domain names at $8.95. I need to find some coupons.

Most sites with cheap domain names will get in hosting charges and fees. Domain name cost is not important, since you only pay a few $/yr, focus more on the hosting plan. check out www.nestsites.com

Netfirm is not reliable. I have registered 3 domains with them and I was running the websites but suddenly they took them off and the domains are not available anymore. As domains are nice, I think they themselves registered them.
