Hey guys Is anyone else haunted by lost earnings? I've recently made some changes to the way things work for me- just some simple alterations to the same old day in and day out processes, and in a one month test the new way of working has added about 40% to my bottom line. Pretty cool, but why couldn't I have thought of it sooner?! Aargh!! I was thinking about that and I wondered about some other mistakes or oversights people may have made: What's YOUR biggest regret? Be interested to know. It's funny cause half of me is pleased with the new money and the other half is steadily mourning the loss of the other money lol
I don't believe in regrets in life. We all screw up. But if you learn from the screwups, there's nothing to regret. It just means you won't do the same thing again later. Everything's a learning process.
My biggest mistake is while I was working on my project - skillipedia (sig) for four years - I didn't launch as skeleton web site. By now, I should have a very decent PR and SERP.
There was a girl at school who had a crush on me, only I didn't find out tell ten years later! Does that count?
All i can say is you learn from your mistakes, i have a few regrets but i just make sure i never make mistakes like them again and work harder if iv lost anything
What you should do fella is make a hot website, that makes a hot ammount of money from adsence and stuff, buy a Lamborghini and stuff and go round to her house, bust her boyfreind/husband up (if by now she has children best not too) but yeah then whisk her off to a Dubai or something, skrew her and then go back to making millions on the web. This is a win win situation, even if she got hit by a bus 5mins before you go round to her house, you still have loads of money, and if you do get to get it on with her, youll be able to do it with a gold plated condom.... Allthough that would proberly be pretty painfull.. anyway, take my advice buddy its a real good plan
mine is not starting earlier. I kept procrastinating. Now I have a major competitor who has been on the web for 4 years, and has the #1 spot on Google for all of our category's keywords, and he will be nearly impossible to beat
Well the first thing to do to fix that problem is to stop thinking like that. If you think it will be nearly impossible, then it will be. The second thing to do is to keep working your ass off, and you'll eventually get there, and probably have more effort invested, b/c you've studied the competition in ways they may not have.
Markn, I think the key word there is "nearly"- He is nearly impossible to beat, which means you can do it! This is interesting stuff, I guess the best thing I can do is learn from it and make sure I put it to use moving forward.
I agree I'm going to fight like hell to do it. It's just so hard because of one stupid factor: backlinks - the guy probably has thousands of them, I have none, nor do I really have the money to buy them (and I refuse to link to sites that have nothing to do with my genre). I think backlinks are the biggest BS factor to hit the internet community
I regret not creating my own products sooner and wasting my time with content sites + Adsense in an ever-changing and more difficult Google. Pete
You just need to get over it and look to the future and the potential to make more from further refining.
My biggest regret is asking a friend to click my Google ads once... He managed to click over 20 times before asking me how much he should click (meaning he just went on a click frenzy before asking me). Resulted in a permanent ban from Google AdSence. Now im making ~$40 a month when sites who do the same thing with the same amount of traffic make over $500 a month.. Now just waiting for YPN to come to the UK
