Who came up with this? I add only one new page a month. I rank first page for keywords with 400,000,000 results. Our previous SEO company ranked just as well and hadn't added any new content in the 6 months that i observed. So go and make 30 new pages every day and see if you rank without any links. Content is nothing! The king is has been overthrown! ALL HAIL THE LINKS!
Link are important but content is equally if not, more important than anything else.. at least in terms of your visitors' views
What a load of crap. You cannot rank well just for having a lot of content, at least not for competitive terms. If your site has the right kind of links coming into it your can rank for pretty much any term.
I believe on mwtrag , adding tons of related pages will gives you a high SERP ranking . Because the additional pages will served as a backlink itself. Ofcors your site needs some backlinks from other site..
If we take a deep breath and step away from SEO for a minute, from a common-sense standpoint we'll see that content is the heartbeat of any website. It's our content to which we want to draw people. It's our content that will either keep them at the site or lose them quickly. That being said, it's the links (along with other aspects of SEO) that greatly help to bring people to read the content. It's not an "either/or"; both content and links are very important.
Jim4767, everything you said is true, but I think core of the discussion was about high rankings and not about why and what is more important. Just like Rapesco mentioned "If your site has the right kind of links coming into it you can rank for pretty much any term" Blank page or not.
links and content, thats the whole thing. put your hands together my friend, you need links just like you need good quality unique content. People who can't get good rankings on search engines need to get back to basics and stop trying to game the engines.
