i see many people commenting on blogs with some links. Most of the time those links are not related to blog topic.Does search engine like google, yahoo and MSN consider those links as back links. Consider i go to a soccer blog and post highly relative and no spam comments. If i include a link to one of my soccer site in that comment will it be useful for PR. Here 1 . I am posting 4 to 5 lines valuable comments 2 . I providing a link highly related to the blog post 3 . The blog where i am posting comments is optimized for the keyword "soccer" 4 . The blog title contains the keyword "soccer" Considering that the links appears on the right site. Will google consider this as a back link and improve my PR. What will be the importance of this link. Can i use this method for link link building? please help
I don't think so, but in yahoo comment in blog and links from social bookmarking is consider as backlinks.
@Janna, is that so, I didnt know that. @Rajan, most of the times technorati ( I use that) doesnt consider the comments' links as backlinks but in some of the cases it has been counted as a backlink to my blog. @ Google, no the links in the comments are not counted as backlinks for sure. But the main purpose is to draw interested readers (participating in the conversation) to your own blog/post.
If you have links from social bookmarking site try to check your backlinks in yahoo and see if those links in social bookmarking is counted as your backlinks. My blog has links from social bookmarking and comments in others blog. And those links are display when I search for my blog backlinks.
Thanks for the reply. How are you so sure that google does not consider links from blog comments. I used the link term and searched in google and it showed some backlinks from blog comments. I did comment on some 15 blogs But google showed me only 2 link backs. But yahoo showed most of them. Google do consider some of those links but why not others.
is there rel="follow" tag on links which are coming to your site ? if there is nofollow , it will not counted as backlinks
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank Looking to the diagram it seems google will add value to your backlinks depending on blog where you leave comments with link. Blog comments can also increase traffic and there are chances that people would solicit link exchange especially if you have good content and PR.
yes yahoo do show blog links as backlinks but I don't think they count them as backlinks in there algo as they are al under nofollow tag
If you did the correct search on Google (link:yoursitename) then this means Google does count some blog comments as backlinks?? I'm also sure that Yahoo does count blog comments. But Google?
A lot depends on how the blog itself is set up. Nowadays it is normally automatic that the blog comments are no follow; this is not always the case. Also the blog owner may choose to turn off the 'no follow' as a reward for his posters (you need to keep an eye out for spam of course). I think most people are normally glad of comments, I reckon that if you made a genuine 100 comments on a blog in a day that most of the blog owners will visit your site. If they like it they may even bookmark it
The links can be measured but are devalued for SERPS. They are good for traffic but useless for ranking. This was done about 18 months ago due to SPAM
