How to stop Domain Name addiction?

    Hi
I think I am addicted to Domain Name buying and I wonder how to stop it. Now I end up having over 250 domains and still buying at times. Still looking for nice domain names. Recently my addcition with domain names spread to ccTLD (country code top level domains) which are more expensive than .com domains.

I wonder any suggestions to stop my domain name addiction?

Well, think about how much you need to pay for renewal fees once all the discounts are gone. That can be a pretty huge amount since it can buy you some nice things. Think about the opportunity lost.

Buy only what you are using ;)

    Hi

Developing them would suck up most of your time and you wont have anymore time to think about new names.

    good luck

Take a domain name of your choice from your collection. Start developing it and then Perform SEO. This will take at least 2-3 months for 1 or 2 domains.

Good advice, after going from 1 domain to 80 domains in less than 3 months, I started developing them and now I dont feel like buying any name anymore.

Unless these names are paying for you habit .. lol .. you got a real problem ..

Remember 5 year plan.. what is it worth in 5 years .. that is the key. then it is not a habit it is a real commodity.

    I had just stopped it.

Sometimes when buying more then i can handle is not good for the pockets. :)

Simply stop it. There is nothing else that can be done.

I would advise you to calculate how much do you earn with your domains and if you're profitable = if you earn more than you spend on buying new domains, then I think it's OK. However, if you earn less than you spend on domains, I would simply stop it.

I had the same thing. I learned to develop and weed and sell those that I didn't need or couldn't develop.

By the way .at (ext for Austria) is going for like 3 euro's with no restrictions. Found that out from a EUROdns newsletter this morning. I was tempted and had like 10 names, did a search and 8 were taken. My need went away really quickly lol.

i would say try to sell those names.. when u dont get potential buyers who pay more than you have already paid for them then you will urself realise that this addiction is bad

if u get such buyers then u r in a good position. ;) it takes a lot of time to get buyers

Take up other habits is a sure fire cure. Start to drink excessively - copious quantities of vodka, more than half a bottle per day will do the trick. You need to make sure that you are so incoherent that you can't see the monitor any more.

there is no known cure for domain name addiction. You will possibly be an addict for the rest of your life. With counselling the problem can be controlled to some degree but all it takes is one domain and a full blown episode of rampant buying can be triggered off.

I am trying to force myself to get something up on every one I register. I figure they only need to make about $0.55/month to pay for themselves. For some, links to Ebay auctions work, for others AdSense is better.

My problem is that I let some go in the past that I really wish I had kept (Can we say three letter .com's).

Don't worry about that. Pining over them is like pining over lost girlfriends. The future is where it's at.
