MySpace.com sued Sanford Wallace, who became known as the King of Spam in the 1990s, for setting up dummy profiles to direct MySpace users to websites such as Real-vegas-sins.com. Wallace created 11,000 fake profiles using automated software programs in violation of MySpace's terms of use agreement, the company said in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. http://www.latimes.com/technology/l...coll=la-mininav-technology&ctrack=1&cset=true
from WickedFire.com This is Sanford Wallace. I read this board all the time but haven't posted until now. I just want people to know that this MySpace suit is complete and utter bullshit. And I never received any C&D nor am I responsible for almost any of the things they allege. Further, I haven't been served nor have I ever received any written communication from them. They are so desperate to shift the blame to notorious "spammers" because they can't seem to run their own site. My advice to you? Don't be a high profile suit target. They haven't gone after the actual "worst enemies" on their system. Instead it would appear they are more interested in trying to gain favorable press.
sorry, I mean the OP - the link to the LA Times. I thought Scott Richter was the spam king super, so myspace is suing everyone who has ever visited the site...how about fixing their freaking site to exclude all that BS!
ITS ALL LIES!!! ALL LIES! THEY DONT WANT YOU TO KNOW THE TRUTH!! (Consipracy theories, anyone?) On a slightly more serious note - its quite complicated what they're actually sueing him for. Good on him for having made so much money off it. I'd have done the same in a heartbeat given the chance.
