At the moment mine are and I'm running CPM ads on all pages (including proxified). I'm curious to know whether they will always be profitable (judging by other peoples experiences). I mean, does it get to a point where it gets really busy with high bandwidth exceeding revenue or does the money from CPM ads (considering there will be a load more pages views) exceed the costs? I realise this is a rather awkward question as it depends how much you get paid per 1,000 impressions and who you host with but I'd like to hear from people with busy proxies.
a good question but have no correct answer not sure how long google allow this but heard alot people got banned because of proxies.
I don't know. I thought that the profit margin for proxy is low because although you can make a nice income, the bandwidth cost may tax you quite badly especially if your visitors use it to view multimedia or download files.
Well it's profitable so far for me. I've only been using ValueClick for the last week on one of my proxies and it's earned £4/5. My hosting is only £8 a month. I just want VC to hurry up and approve my other proxy as that gets more impressions!
I use around 20gb/day but my server is only $150/month and i make between $30-$50/day so its a profit.
I have a proxy that is listed in DMOZ, its been making money for over a year because of that listing, hosting is $45/ month however it also allows for all my other sites to be on the server it uses. Makes triple the hosting cost per month.
Yeah but I'd sell it before it gets to that point unless hosting becomes uber cheap all of a sudden Thanks for the other replies though, good to know
I really can't see how, anymore...seems like everyone and their mother has a proxy site. Honestly, I can't see why anyone wouldn't just google "proxy site" and use one of the top 3 results.
My proxy grew really fast on a shared host, so I converted it to a proxy toplist, and SEO'ed it. Its now #1 for its keywords, and gets plenty of traffic, and makes $10-40/day off adsense, and it now sends traffic to my own proxies which double that. I have a great deal on a box so yeah, I am making triple the cost of my box's monthly free daily. I will be ordering more boxes once this one gets used more. If you have a great deal on a box like me, and knowledge of proxies, you can make great money forever. Over time it gets blocked, so the traffic goes up and down. New --> lots of traffic blocked --> goes down traffic get google results --> traffic goes up etc. Overall: My sites are doing great and my box is only 20% usage. This is 6 months in.
FYI, just before first payment they will disable your ValueClick account because they are not accepting or supporting proxies. Also it looks as adsens will drop all poxy sites. Once that happens having a proxy will be same as having porn site. You will not be able to find any good sponsors and will have plenty of traffic. So I would not spend to much money on ordering or promoting any proxy site. Just my opinion...
The top 3 results are usually banned at their schools, and that is why they usually click 10 to 20 pages into a Google search to find a lesser known one. As for my proxy, my Adsense earnings can be anywhere from just $6 to $30 a day, but I do have a steady increase of about 200 new uniques per day. I also make about $15 a day in Adversal pop-under ads. My hosting is $20 a month, so usually one day pays off the hosting.
Hey Chris369, are you using ValueClick on proxified pages? And NickD, which ad programs you are using, either on Index and proxified pages?
I make alot of profit from my site. 3 days and my hosting is payed of so what ever else there is left for me. Usually there is alot. - Prilep
Just been thinking about this and it occured to me that proxies get blocked in schools so most of the ones high up in the search engines will probably be blocked so new proxies are always welcomed
makes sense. I still can't get over how much some of you guys are making on these sites. I don't even get 1/10th of that much on a site I spent a year building
