I noticed that a number of people have been placing the '$' sign behind their numbers instead of infront like what I was taught in school. I was brought up to think that the '$' sign goes infront and the 'c' goes behind if it is under a dollar. Something like :- $100 and 50c . Is it a new trend which I am missing because I see quite a number of post with the '$' behind like 100$ ? Am I outdated or that is how some countries uses the '$' sign ?
miJ .know don't I .amount the behind symbol currency the put they countries other some in Maybe .thought a Just
Many european peoples will put the sign behind the number, because this is the way we were taught in school For me it's "unatural' to write $100, I first write 100$, and remember that's most of you are not used to, so I correct myself and write it $100, your proper way
Thanks. I think for us, the sign behind is reserve for cents. I noticed that Indians do that too by placing the $ at the back but I thought at first it has to do with how they write their currency in India but I checked and they had it as Rs 100 and not 100 Rs. Now I see that in Europe, if the € symbol is used it is placed at the back as in 100 € but if it is spelt out, it is Eur 100. It does seems confusing.
it's spelld 100 euros and it's writen 100€ While you USA's took everything from Britain culture and you have $(dollars)beofre the amount same as brithsh pounds! And ofcourse british are known to do everything different from other countries.
well yeah, if it wasnt for british you think you usa's would have existed now? Hah, what do you think your setlers were indians or cowboys? -Ofcourse not, you are all british who don't even know it. There is a vise word:Others will not harm you, your own people will - in your case it means British colonists saw Britain weakning and wanted to rule america on their own, without britain interfirence. So yeah you are all british and africans there in america! white=british black=africa yellow=rightful owners of USA land and it's rightful land sesters!
I do it because I usually forget to put it before and putting it after is quicker than erasing and retyping it...
I guess it's just different in other countries. For me, I'm also used to placing the currency symbol and the beginning of the amount.
I've the same problem. Though I try to put in front of the amount but sometimes I just put it after the amount. You can call me a bit lazy on that, so it's not what we are taught but it is our own (People who put after amount) method.
Actually, the the € you should put it in front as well (So €100). But before the euro many countries had it after the number (like 100 BEF for belgium). That's why many people still put it after the number.
On that note. I dont like it when some europeans write their numbers like this In Australia fifty bucks is like 50.00 In Europe it is 50,00. It gets on my nerves. Damnit !
No America is made up of lots of European immigrants, British, Dutch, Irish, Frence etc. The Birtish and Dutch Empires used to control different parts of what is now the USA. New York used to be called New Amsterdam.
some times in a hurry we write 1$ instead of $1, but then these little typo don't make much of a difference! anyways, since you pointed out, am sure many will make it a habit!
mostly because when you hear people saying they say 100 Dollars ... no one say Dollar 1 so people write the way they speak .. they say 100$ thts my logic
100$ IMHO more correct because you say 100 dollars but don't say dollars 100 But because I know that majority of people here from North America I try to use $100. But it so difficult PS. People strange in America They use pounds and miles instead of kilos and kilometers I recently bought Volvo S60 from USA and computer shows mileage in MPG (Miles per Gallon) instead of liters for 100km. First it was strange and made me mad but now I get used to it already.
We do it after indeed here in Turkey, but I got used to use it behind now as I'm mostly working with people from foreign countries.
