Azoogle is good for beginners. Losing money is ok when you test a campaign but always use the sub id tracking to track what keywords are converting & what are not- So you can drop the latter. Bidding $1 for a keyword is always risky. Do research on the niche to find some cheap but targeted keywords. Most of the time your hard work will pay off in keyword research.

Heed Jesse's advice. You either need to get some longer tail keywords (actually keyword phrases with 3-4 words) or get some less common search terms. You need to think creatively about how to market to your niche, and without knowing the niche (as Jesse said), its hard to give specific advice. $1.00 is definately too much per click for this situation.

Point blank, you either have to increase your conversion rate or decrease your cost per click. Those are the only two choices, and you probably have a little more control over your cost per click than you do the conversion rate.

Also keep in mind it's a good idea to optimize your landing page in other ways as well. For example, I like to put AdSense at the very bottom of landing pages under any content I might have... I figure if someone scrolled all the way down there my affiliate product wasn't what they were looking for so the next action is to leave. Might as well let them give me some money back when they do so.
