Something is going on with google. every site I check returns 98% supplementals. Are you experiencing the same thing?
If pages are not unique, have small content then it is a 99% way to supplementals. On the other hand if you get several PR5-6-7 links to your main page majority of your pages will be out of supplementals. I had many supplementals but after several high PR links now I don't have supplemental results pages.
none of mine are supplemental. I would check your content and linking practices if your sites are dropping into the supplemental index.
it is not only my sites, I said all the sites I check. Anyways, It is only an issue with the datacenter I am hitting. checked other datacenter everything is fine.
i have apllied these http://www.seo4fun.com/notes/supplementals.html tips to my site nearly 6 months ago and i have started to see success now
The supplemental index is for pages that lack quality for a number of reasons. It may be that the majority of the content is duplicate, or that the sites internal navigation structure isn't very good. It can also come down to site design and layout. Does your template have mass amounts of duplicate text?
Actually, that right there is buying into Google's official line. Although Google would love for you to believe that they have their crap together when it come to determining what is and what isn't quality, that's bullshit. Supps have nothing to do with quality. Supps are a matter of linking. Duplicate content may play a part in it, but imo the reason those 2 have been so closely tied together is because there are a large number of template driven sites that tend to go supplemental. Those sites, all having similar content/metas/titles, etc. lead many people to believe that it was the duplicate content causing the problem. What was overlooked is the fact that those template sites all also had poor internal linking schemes (as far as what Google is looking for anyways) and very few deep inbound links. -Michael
You just reiterated exactly what I said in my post above. I named internal linking structure as a large cause of the problem. I don't buy into any of the bullshit google is selling people. Duplicate content I can 99 percent guarantee you is one reason for a site going supplemental. I've got experimental sites that back thins up over and over again.
Most of my site and it's homepage even is supplemental. It has thousands of backlinks, but Google is saying that it has about 70 when I know for fact it has over 10,000. It also says it in the webmastertools at google in my account that I have just over 10,000. Most of my sites content is different from other sites. I have paid others to write content for me and now I have wasted my money because my site is not getting hardly any traffic even though I paid top dollars for people to write for me. That is one reason why you should not count on just getting backlinks to your site. The main rule is to build content and get traffic from you advertising. At the end of it, if you get traffic then the backlinks will automatically start coming into your site especially if your site is sticky and viral.
When your homepage become supplemental also then youre now doomed. Your site will not be in SERP anymore.. Happened to me exactly..
The thing is, my site has potential to become under 1,000 in alexa. I know that for a fact. When it was in Google it was reaching an alexa of just under 15,000 - 20,000 and the site has grown quite a bit now. I have included much more content and alot of it is viral. Anyway, Google is not going to stop me, there is plenty of traffic on the web and I will keep growing because of the viralness of the site and then Google may decide to include the site back into the results once they realise how important it is. Well I hope anyway.
