Title says it all. Do active forums with new users posting new content daily do well in the SE rankings?

    Google 'adsense' for your answer.

Quite good as for general phrases never promoted (positioned), but you can archieve better results with a few good link backs than most forums.

Fresh content will keep the fresh bots crawling your forum. So, yes. It's a good thing.

the reason I ask is because I'm in the process of seeding a forum of mine with posts regularly until I actually build up users.

Its more of a question and answer forum for a specific broad topic, with specific topics being in their own subcategories.

Being that it is about something I do very well, and have done for a living my whole life I can keep coming up with questions and answers very easily. Hell I posted 25 questions today with 80 responses :D Hoping i might get a little Search Engine love if I keep it up.

    Yep definitely it works good.
And you also need to get quality backlinks to your domain regularly to add value to your content from external reference ;)

It depends on the content, keywords and the quality of the content... if you have new users posting trash it will not help at all.

Anyway, I do think forums can greatly increase your search engine presence. But you need to work on it (content, content and more content).

Yep, each post is laden with keywords. Not overly so, but enough that the spider should be able to easily tell what the post is about. Each post is different, but holds to the general overall theme of the forum.

Im thinking I can post around 1000k posts a week. It only takes me a couple hours to write long drawn out comments and answers to the seeded questions. These questions too, are questions MANY people ask everyday. I figure putting the questions up, and posing answers, might get me ranked for those questions when people type it into a search engine. 1000 posts a week should keep the spiders happy for a while?!

Any suggestions other than submitting articles, and directories, that is low cost? (trying to keep my budget ultra low!)

Google bots love forums and blogs. They are very frequebts on these kind of sites. So yes active forums are highly essentials for serps.

Also I am wondering how could someone post 1K quality posts in a week. If I were you --I would have gone for less number and higher quality with well researched posts to feed the bots.:)

There are surely many advantages over running a forum.
Google, generally gets a clear idea of how the forum is been updated as often. Which makes the bot to crawl into forums, as soon as possible.

You also create a large amount of content which gets backlinks from here and there. Which ensures that the forum, gets crawled as often due to those links pointing to it.

What also matters, will be the quality of each topic, along with keyword rich conversation pointing to different aspects.
