    Hi guys,

I am constantly seeing posts on this board about 'how can I increase my earnings', 'how can I make XXX / day'.

Ok, if you follow these 5 simple rules you will increase your earnings.

    1. Test, test, test - use anything you possibly can to test your adsense, channels are perfect for this, they let you see which ads perform best and which dont.
    2. If it ain't broke - Thats right, if its working and generating you income, don't change it, no matter what anyone on here / elsewhere says.
    3. Blend your ads - precisely WHY google advises that sometimes its a good idea to make your ads stick out like a sore thumb, I have no idea. It is my experience that
    4. More Traffic = More Cash - It is absolutely true, no matter what your niche, the more traffic you have, the more chance someone will click your ads.
    5. More Content = More adsense placements - More content pages = more places to slap your adsense & also more topic areas for people to find you with (they may not be interested in your red widgets page, but they are VERY interested in your blue underwater widgets).

So, now that i've solved your adsense problems, visit my Acapella Forum and click an ad :p (joking)

Feel free to add your comments / suggestions here.

These two contradict each other - and I'm going to say that I think your #2 isn't a good option to take for a couple of reasons.

Firstly if it ain't broke it doesn't mean it still can't be better.

Now don't get me wrong I think that there is a definite point where you really need to think is investing more time into test and retesting and further optimization worth it - the answer is in most cases probably no. I think you definitely need to look to optimize your AdSense but the old 80-20 rule applies, you will get 80% of the result with only an initial 20% effort so work on optimizing your ads nicely but then move onto building traffic and developing your sites. Once your sites have have thousands of visitors a day then a 5 or 10% increase in your earning might actually justify investing more time and energy into further optimizing your AdSense again.

Secondly often changing you ads can lead to an increase in clicks because of ad blindness so periodically changing the format can redraw back to the ads because you visitors will notice a change. Ideally you will keep your ads well blended most of the time but periodic/temporary changes might be exactly what you need to do to remind you users that they are there and are worth looking at - especially when Google seems to be running the same old ads in your ad units.

    That's just my two cents.
