I have a blog with blogger.com and am currently working on one in wordpress. For some reason though I seem to have more trouble understanding wordpress. I have heard many prefer wordpress over blogger and just wonder what others have to say. Is one really any better than the other? Thanks, Judy
I personally prefer Blogger because it's nice and simple (just like me). Better still is Blogger hosted somewhere else. WordPress gives you more options to play with - greater functionality and a fresher, more professional appearance.
I used blogger when I first started out, but moved that blog to WP, and now run 6 or 7 other blogs on WP. I wouldn't go back.
Wordpress is a little more intensive, but it doesn't take much to understand it after playing around with if for a minute, and you will be happy that you did. Blogger is a little more user friendly, or I should say, easier to learn for a beginner, but wordpress has more options when you self host.
You can start a free wordpress blog at wordpress.COM. Both Blogger and Wordpress will host for you. You can also host a Blogger blog on your own as well. So with either one, you can host it yourself or use their own free service. As for my personal experience from using both, Wordpress is by far the better choice, although it definitely pays to know a bit of code. You can get away without that knowledge, but it helps if you make an effort to learn a little bit as your blogs grow.
I prefer wordpress cos of the plugins which can add some more functions and also its easy to customize the WP .
Wordpress. As far as I remember you have very little control over blogger, its like tweaking a myspaz.com page. With wordpress you have full control over every detail.
The last time I checked, blogger.com wasn't allowing your own hosted blogs to use the category tool (or whatever they're calling it), and they said they had no intentions to in the future. Did that change just out of curiosity?
Whoops, maybe I was totally wrong. It's been awhile since I used blogger, but I was under the impression that to get rid of the blogger search bar at the top, you could host it yourself.
You could host it yourself (that's what I used to do). But when they launched the new blogger w/ the category options, they weren't supporting that feature (the main reason I didn't stick w/ blogger at the time) on blogs you host yourself, and they said they weren't intending to. I don't know if they do now or not though... haven't checked in a while.
Wordpress.org offers you greater customization. Can get a bit difficult to understand at the beginning, but the support is great, and you'll get your problems solved in no time
I used blogger a long time ago and it served it's purpose. Then, moved to a ColdFusion based blog. Now, I use WordPress and would never go back. The vast collection of plugins gives you a flexibility to change WP to your liking.
I guess the user does not ask his question about WP software. As far as i see, he is asking hosting blog on wordpress.org. So i guess it will be better if you comment about hosting service instead of software!
Wordpress is far more flexible than blogger. Just the huge amount of plugins get's my vote. Although blogger blogs seem to get a decent pagerank quite easily. In my experience anyway. tn33
Blogger gets indexed faster by yahoo and google. Wordpress gives you more freedom of design. Although, if you know html then you shouldn't have much trouble messing up with Blogger. And from what I heard, you can't have AdSense with Wordpress.
