I received an email from google a few days ago saying this: Publishers are not permitted to place Google ads on pages that frame content from other sites without permission from the owners of those sites. Now, I read their policy, and terms and conditions, and no where was this statement or similar on their policy, anybody know where it is? also, how would google know if you have obtained permissions or not? I may very well have permissions to do so from the site owners, but how is google to know that? they just ban the site without asking for proof or asking if I do have permission...
I also can not seem to find that specific rule after a cursory glance through the TOS. I wouldn't worry too much about it - just heed their warning because they make the rules. One of their rules is that they can terminate AdSense accounts at any time and for any reason that suits their purposes - don't give them an excuse to do that by failing to heed this email.
in the email that they sent me, they said ad serving to that site will be stopped, but it kept showing for the whole day, so I thought I was ok, but today, they pulled the plug and ads stopped serving on that whole site. Its my biggest earner so I am worried. I removed the whole frame thing after they emailed me I emailed them telling them i've removed the frame, hoping for re-inclusion, im crossing my fingers but yeah, I find this rule to be very unfair, no warning, they dont know whether I have permission or not, and then the rule wasnt even in their TOS.
If the frame surrounding the actual content (which may or may not be yours) is containing just the ad unit and no other form of content or text, then it is against TOS. Says so here: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=48182&topic=8423 That means "frames" indirectly. As for framing content from other sites, ethically it's sorta in the grey area.
no, the entire frame contains other contents (related to the site that is been framed, so user can find more information on that topic). and the webmasters themselves know that their site will be framed if they submit their URLs, and all links are user submitted. so they do know about it, and whether they want to submit to my site or not is up to them.. also, the frame is not solely for adsense, it's very helpful to the user because it offers more sources for similar content of the site they are visiting
you could likely find a template system of one type or another to suit your needs. I have a framed page and am slowly working my way into using Wordpress (as it's a pretty basic setup). You may enjoy Joomla, or maybe find Drupal to your liking. What is your site, maybe someone could suggest something that would help if they knew what it looked like. And failing getting help in here, try the HTML & Website Design forum here and I'm sure someone there would know how to help redesign. Best of luck! Q
