Did you guys forget about NT-DOS? I believe there is a way to connect to the internet through DOS, and you could even use windows 3.11 as a crappy GUI for the elderly and ignorant :D

As for me i would have no quams about reverting back to fine relics such as lemmings, commander keen, the original doom, even descent the first true 3d game... yes i believe we could do without Billy for awhile until we find someone reputable enough to make a real contribution to the software market.

Wonder if Norton could get any funding to get us a real OS. I miss the original Utilities. Cute little ascii boxes flipping around chunks of data on my hdd, so much fun with a cup of tea.

I'm not even gonna think about an operating system after Vista. Vista has only been out since January 30th, which isn't very long.

I think it's gonna be called Vienna, though.

I strongly think the next OS' release would be delayed just like Vista was.

I just bought a laptop to help me with work with Windows Vista, took half an hour to get it to connect to a network, for some reason it wasn't saving the network key and reverting it to the incorrect settings, eventualy somehow it did it right lol

    I hate all these Vista-haters. :p

Vista may not be compatible with everything that XP was, but it is one of the most stable operating systems to date. I haven't crashed at all, besides when I tried to install an older program. Included is Windows Defender, Windows Internet Explorer 7 and many newer Microsoft programs.

I think it is a major improvement over previous operating systems.

I think you're just lucky Le GoogelGuRu, lol, with nothing installed but the system on my dual-core pentium laptop it takes FOREVER to load, lol, and than freezes a bunch of times when I tried to load anything.

I was talking about this with a few people earlier today. The jump from XP to Vista seems like a bit of a shock, but it's no worse than the transition many people made from 98 to XP.

Realistically life after Vista should fully support 64bit processing. The 64 bit processors started coming out while XP was the head honcho in the Microsoft OS world, now I think it is reasonable that the next Microsoft OS will fully utilize the 64 bit processor.
