Directories March 2007

So far this month we have seen an increase in visitors in comparison with February

Our Increase
1300 More Uniques
2000 More Total Number of Visits

Are you getting more visitors this month?
and
If you are what do you attribute that increase to?
Or
Is this to be expected and the market always picks up in March?

Sudden increase are in my opinion are the new innovations that are being developed by each owner. The MODS and Upgrades. Consider also some best designers popping out at Templates Section and the Increase of participants at Link Sales. The New Owners and Members at DP coming out with wonderful directories. The Race for PR also has served a lot of excitement. While some would not agree it is very good and healthy in the industry as there will be more directories that will surge and have High Page Rank. We know that there are lots out there but DP members are much better promoters. Each day ideas are coming out and I am very glad to see them.

Interesting comments popotalk that appear to confirm that if Directory Owners add more features and are more innovative with their Directories they will be rewarded by a continued increase in visitors and more business

Could be that you are spot on and the way to go is to try be creative and innovative as often as you can to update your Directories so increasing and maintaining interest in your Directory

 

I released a high quality wordpress theme a few days ago and I got around 1k uniques in a single day.
Sorry,I can't post the exact amount of unique visits increased because I moved the directory to another server in Mid-March.

Actually, march isn't great for me. Feb was way too good though. Sales were 3 times better.

I'm hoping the coming Google update will increase sales

 

I got a small increase in the Traffic but on the other hand the submissions have decreased.

 

my traffic has taken off in the past week. I've been working at this website stuff for several months now and it's starting to pay off. I launched a new site last week, and I think I'm getting the hang of it. It's getting 50 visitors a day already!
(I know that's chicken feed for some of you, but I'm happy)

 

I have recieved more than double traffic this month march to gii and its from google

 

Seeing a nice increase overall this month @ eWebPages, both from direct referrals and search engine traffic with Google leading the way, and I'm encouraged with the increase of referrals @ Link Book Web Directory (now to just get the new template, logo and deep link mods done there).

i think directory submission is helpful to increase unique visit to the site. but the main focus should be keyword and content of the site, so if a visitor comes once he/she should visit it regularly and be a regular visitor.

 

I actually haven't done much to advertise, just a few banners and links, but I have noticed an increase 1157 currently more then last months.

 

At the most basic level of any website if you can provide something - whether its a forum, blog, newsletter or even some form of small game - this will provide your visitors with a reason to return. As far as directories go i probably visit a directory each time i have a new website to submit, theres no reason to return other than to submit a new site. On the other hand though i visit Aviva about once a week, not because of the directory, but because of the Aviva blog.

Essentially content is king!

Yes, and thanks for pointing that out. Seems like a significant increase here too for March. Had ~ 2900 uniques in Feb. and have had ~ 3500 uniques for the first 27 days of March. I don't see any strong new referrers in my stats, just an increase all round.

 

Though not over flowing --like big boys --and with little or no promotion at all --I have received a meagre 1600 uniques this month so far --but it is a huge jump from last month --almost double --and almost 20 % from SEs ( don't know how as I am yet to do proper SEO been too busy just to get good backlinks)

jhnrang - nice increase Doubling your traffic is excellent and the 20% from search engines is a great start.
