Hey Guys I Want To Use one of these softwares what do you recommend which is better for the server and users and also modding part
It depends on the scale of your site. If you want something massive like DP go with VB but if you want something smaller and better looking go with IPB
Everybody seems to recommend vB, but personally, from a users point of view, I preffer ipb. Never been an admin on a live ipb or vB forum. So got not much experience from an admin point of view for these.
If I were going to use either, it would be vB. The reason for that is I can browse vB's forum and see other peoples experience with server loads, problems etc, IPB has everything hidden behind closed doors making it impossible to make any evaluation of the software without buying it first.
If you like community addons like a blog addon, ipb is the way to go. But if you like seo friendly & user friendly message boards, vbulletin is.
Do you still have to do file edits on all IPB mods? I remember when I switched to vbulletin I fell in love with the plugin/product system. Vbulletin is slightly better but IPB is a little more user friendly imo.
I have had chances of working for my clients who were running IPB, I felt its admin panel sucked big time, adding a small minor plug in/hack was so difficult. This new version is slightly better then the other older one's. I also wrote how to add coop to IPB. After doing hell lot of research. IPB Over VB? IPB does not even stand a chance on how easy it is to configure/edit/customize. Even for forum user's. I already have 3 licenses if I'm looking for more in future it will be VB.
ipb all the way, as for the mods there is a universal mod installer now which does most of the work, how ever on some you may still need to do 1 or 2 skin edits. I personally like IPB for its simplicity, easy to use, beginner friendly and safe.
IPB is a bit different since v2.0 It has a much much better profile page than Vb now, i've tried both but I like IPB, thats just my opinion though
I would recommend you to head to the demo pages of BOTH scripts and see which you like better. I use both and don't know which to chose. Both have "pluses and minuses' as compared to each other, it's a matter of personal choice in the end.
