Yeah, I agree here. Get a simple website up; get a product(s) (ghostwritten or your own) and try to make a few sales. You'll be amazed how quickly you learn actually doing, as opposed to studying books; what I would do after a few months is then buy a few books so you can see where you're going wrong and right, learn a few ideas etc. Get some hands on experience now though. I think the key to learning internet marketing is not to learn everything at once, pick 1 or 2 methods can and be good at it. There're many marketing method, I'd stay AWAY from SEO because thats the most competitive. You may wanna check out PPC, Forum Marketing, Email marketing, article marketing...

Subscribe to newsletters that might be helpful to you. Make mistakes and learn from them, and learn from other peoples' mistakes as well.
I don't think you really need any ebooks, articles, etc. One of the best ways I have found is to use forums. For exmaple, this forums has thousands of threads about marketing, seo, general search engine information, affiliate marketing, etc. What more can you ask for.
