    - I see a lot of people stealing images from the web.
(Yes, it's stealing, not borrowing. They spent the time to create it, but not for you to just take it and make money)
Consider this, try to use the AOL logo and sell it, see what happens =) (I don't recommend it though)

I'm not trying to be mean,
But those people have to understand that, you can't be doing that. If the owner of the clip art finds out, they can take legal action, and that would not be good at all for the contest holder.

Besides that doesn't work to well for a "logo" which at times it needs to printed, or scaled up/down without it losing quality.
(Some people get lost when creating a logo, and end up creating a banner looking thing instead. I used to do that sometimes too)
I Realize illustrations are probably worth more for the time and effort, but it's the best way to avoid legal action.

    - NOTE: Sometimes there is no need for vector/HiRes art, if the contest holder doesn't plan for use outside the web.

If you want images you should draw them, and create a version in photoshop.

Vector Is a Way of doing something, not a program! Photoshop has this ability. Vector is basically the "Pen Tool"
Adobe Illustrator is simply another program, but with emphasize on vector.

Vector vs Raster: (Raster is non-vector)

    - This is just my opinion, i'm not here to boss those people around or tell them what to do.
Someone should make a topic on this or something...
Sorry for this semi un-related topic, I will create a topic on this in a little bit.

Warpser, all well said, and I agree.

But this is a $35 logo contest. This is the way of the cheap design world, and it will always be this way. Yes, it is stealing, but petty stealing like this happens all of the time.

As for your kind 'advice' on creating graphics. Don't. Just don't even try to tell someone how to express themselves through art. I have to draw it do I? It just so happens I can't do anything worth looking twice at with a pencil. I just don't have that ability, just as some hand-drawing artists fail to comprehend the idea of using a PC for art. They just can't do it.

The monkey that Auzzzie gave to me, to use for the competition, I could draw a monkey like that in Photoshop. I could draw a whole family of them, but guess what?

It would take me hours upon hours to create this, and you know what? I still might win thirty five dollars. Do I really want to do that now? No, I don't and neither does anyone else.

It's not even worth it for a chance at $500. For that kind of art, that quality and time. It takes a contract, pre-paid.

So, whilst I agree with the point you're trying to make, although not fully, you're making a point that can only happen and be realistic if prices go up (way up) and quality goes up (for the competition holder).

Also, this is extremely off-topic. Create a new thread for this kinda thing.

You contradict yourself in that post by saying that you cannot draw, then saying you can draw those monkeys. Or are you talking about drawing in pencil, and drawing on the PC.

Also, if you can do logos for $500, then why don't you, rather than entering into these competitions, is it because very, very few people offer this kind of money?

    Do tell me :)

I realize that DustyDog, But STEALING is STEALING.
I hope you didn't try and say you are OK with that. (You Obviously are not OK with it, when others on this forum take, I mean Steal your idea)

It's not "ADVICE", it's merely a suggestion, I am only suggesting a method of doing it (Vector). Simply because it would benifit the contest holder. I am not forcing you to illustrate anything, that is your choice. Sorry for the confusion.
I realize your time is precious DustDog, but that doesn't mean you should throw contest holders trash.
I agree, contest should offer a little bit more... but that's their choice.

As for the prize money: Please Re-Read my post: (I posted some things in bold for a reason)

Again, I'm not forcing anyone to do anything but, just thought the contest holders should know because if the original art work owner finds it, They CAN and probably WILL take LEGAL ACTION.

Who will they come after? The Contest Holder, because they own it.
I am only try to help a bit, even though it may seem harsh to some. You do not have to listen to me, Just ignore me.

A thread has been created for this, as I mentioned at the end of my previous post. For any further comments please go here:
