Hi i got a little question that seems unanswerable for me, I am working constantly building back links for my site i have done both on-site and off site seo i am now listed for many pages in google and yahoo. What i am wanting to know is how long after being indexed will your search engine ranking begin to climb i have been waiting for 1 month and i have not yet ranked as high as i think i should have. Any advice appreciated.
Keep building links, 1 month is nothing. Depending on competition then expect to wait several more months before you gain high rankings. In the mean time worry about getting your conversion rates up, getting traffic is one thing, monetizing it is entirely different aspect. even more important though.
Ok so it could be a few months i thought it was a long term thing but just had to make sure. What is the earliest anyone has had a site ranked high.
Depends on your niche. It may take up time between 3 months - 15 months to get ranked on the first page. However, even your site doesn't ranked as you wish you have to continue built your link and add some contents regularly if possible. Some niche with very high competitive in itself like - Real Estate - Flower - MP3 - Jewelry - etc. May takes up to 1-2 years to get ranked or may be not if your competitor have old aged site and doing well optimized both on-page and off-page.
So search engine traffic really is for a long term site and not really good for short term traffic to affiliate links etc.
well it depends what you want to do, If you just need traffic for a certain time for an event or something then pay per click is the best thing to do or may be participate in adwords new pay per action thing. If you want to be a full time webmaster in the future then search engine traffic is a must and you need to keep working on it always I suggest you dont put all your eggs in one basket and make a few more sites and concentrate on 3 or 4 of them and let the rest of them just age and they will be of good use latter.
Thanks for the advice i have a site in development that will be very long term but i also have many smaller sites just like landing pages for affiliate programs.
its going to take a lot longer than that. its best if you target easier keywords first and then move on to more competitive ones
for anything with over 1000 searches a month, give it 1-3 years. you can go for the long tail right away.
That's bull, I managed to get top 5 for a 500 searches/day sentence in a couple of months. It's not the how long you've been doing it, it's how you do it.
Your ranking will depend on your optimization using your targeted keywords. Use also your targeted keywords as anchor text to help improved your ranking. It's really hard to get a better ranking so just enjoy what your doing and be patient. You will see the result soon. And if ever you already get a better position in search engine let us know here in the forums. We'll be happy for you.
Thank you for the help and advice i will keep at it and cross my fingers and hope at the moment i am getting about 10 visitors from search engines a month.
Thanks for the tip - for the domain names that you put to one side to age is it enough to but a statement like - under construction or does it have to be a bit more involved than that?
