For those of you who have been feeding your kids Ribena, it's the time to stop. The company has been fined over NZ200,00 for false advertisement. Apparently, the claim that Ribena contains 4 times more vitamin C than oranges is false. In fact, there's hardly any vitamin C in it. So all you have been paying all this while is just sugared water. Who discovered this? two 14 year old kids. What a joke! Complete story on Ribena scam
Just to bring some clarity to this thread, The Ribena in relation to the story is ONLY for the Ribena sold in Australia and New Zealand. All other Ribena sold in other countries do have the advertised levels of vitamin C. So unless you live in Australia or new Zealand, this does not affect you. Solidarity for those affected in Australia and New Zealand is perhaps appreciated however.
Well done to the girls taking on 'Ribena'. I think sales will suffer world wide because of it, as consumers are sceptical when this kind of news breaks.
Anyone remember the Ribena "Toothkind" nonsense that a court ruled misleading back in 2001? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1121749.stm
