I am pretty sure I was using the www.whois.net tool and looking up some companies on the Alexa list. And some companies had "prohibited" by what was suppose to be information. So I don't think you are obligated to give away your personal information you most likely just have to submit something to them saying you don't want your information showed to the world. -Stealer
It is recommended that you do put in your real information .Why would you want to put fake information there? If you really care for your privacy, take a privacy guard.
ICANN requires accurate and true information or you can lose your domain name if they find out you are using false information. Jim
its not ok to put fake information when buying domains. i think its against TOs. private reg is free when you buy 3 or more domains in godaddy and free for namecheap.
Yes you are required to put real information.. Why you are worried - are you doing some thing wrong ? Or you can buy WHOIS protection tool - namecheap and Godaddy allow.
first thanx to all of you. but i m running a image hosting site. if someone upload any illigal content then where is my fault.
You put in your TOS that users are forbidden to upload any illegal blah, blah, blah...and if it is discovered they uploaded any ilegal blah, blah, blah, then you will eliminate their account and delete their files blah, blah, blah, and then you get on with your life. Jim
I can't say exactly since I am not an attorney. However, I am sure there is "legalise" to protect yourself. Consult and attorney who can advise you. Jim
