here is my problem.. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=271617 can something be done about this ?
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=190346 Since there is no "proof" either way, it is much better policy not to take sides in any dispute, especially financial. I could say Shawn wouldn't pay me $10 for a link I gave him to digitalpoint. Everyone here wouldn't belive me, but a normal person wouldn't know either way. A group of people blaming a person of being a scammer could be friends trying to ruin an innocent person's reputation. You just never know.. and it's never good policy to guess.
Exactly... the disputes ultimately become a "he said, she said" type of thing. Would be an utter nightmare to try and mediate any little quarrel users have with each other.
well, i can show receipt that i paid. you can also check my msgs here at digitalpoint and see that i have pm'd him multiple times with no response even though he was online today.
And what, then a Digital Point Judge makes a determination who is right and who is wrong? DP is just a website. What you are asking is for real people to spend time, review your dispute, make a determination of right and wrong, and then act upon it. Why is that something DP should do or be responsible for? If you were scammed, and there is enough at stake, take them to court. If there is not enough at stake to warrant that, then why would you expect other people [DP mods] to spend their valuable time to sort out your little dispute. A dispute that is just one of thousands that take place here.
well, I guess I asked if something could be done because I figured that there has to be some kind of regulations for things like this. If no one cares anyone could just sell anything they want, rip as many people as they want off and still just come to the same forum and continue doing the same things. I would think if a forum gets complaints about a person scamming people it would be there responsibility to act. Im not asking dp to be a judge, im asking for dp to act on scammers that continually scam on there site. I own 9 websites and I admin over a dozen, if i get multiple complaints from legitimate people about 1 person I definitely look into it. Browntwn, are you saying that you wouldnt care about people getting scammed at your forum or site ?
Currently Active Users: 1,116 (279 members and 837 guests) If you can deal with that much traffic and still supply your users with mediation, hats off to you. I know I couldn't and certainly wouldn't attempt to do so. There is a system similar to ebay's implemented in the BST section that, by design, runs itself and eventually gets the bad apples out of the bunch.
279 members, that is too much to deal with ? the guests are not a worry, just members of course. seems that is a pretty low number to just not deal with.
That is the number of users currently online. Active Members: 23,983 Those are active members that still visit the forum. But I'm not going to debate with you. You're bitter and I understand. I would be too. Just step back and look at it from the middle and I think you will see what we mean.
It is a tough situation. DP cannot selectively get involved in some disputes and not others. Sure, some are clear and trust me, those bad apples get tossed from DP eventually. But, in most cases, it is not crystal clear who is right or who is wrong or it is a question of degree. That is something that DP should not waste its time trying to sort out. Basically, I don't expect a bartender to sort out arguments between patrons at a bar and I don't expect DP to sort out disagreements between members. I do expect both to toss out rude and unruly persons.
true, not arguing with anyone here, but my point is, if im the bartender, and the same guy keeps coming in stealing change on the bar from other patrons, i would stop him. even if my bar had 279 patrons in it at that time.
I don't think you would. But hey, open your own then, if you think you can do it better. p.s. Your particular situation may seem clear, but what does DP do when someone buys a website that is to be completed in 1 week, and it is not completed after 1 week. What does DP do? Ban the seller, give him more time. Ban him after 2 bad sales, or is it 1 or 4 or 7 What if the buyer kept changing the specs ??? You are assuming everything is black and white and there is a clear right or wrong to be determined. Sure, if it was always clear, the bad guy would be tossed. But that is not possible, as life does not work out that way and it would take a team of people just to sort out disputes - to what end? The main point, which you keep overlooking, is that nobody has the time to review every case to see who is right and who is wrong.
I see you haven't sumitted any iTrader feedback? It's there for a reason. By using it, it may help some one else from ending end up in the same situation.
bad analogy. the bar's looking to make money. losing a few customers to rumors and bad publicity makes a lot of difference. DP's a service provided to webmasters. FOC. so it's not their responsibility nor obligation. i feel sorry for you, but that's the way life is. sometimes life ain't fair. i myself did a work for someone, and he ended up not wanting to pay me. he keeps giving excuses like 'your design doesn't work' 'i can't use it, so it's too bad' and 'i'll pay you a portion once i get the money' but i have a feeling i'm never going to see the money. i just wrote it off as losses.
