I would have guessed it was Windows Myopia . MS is usually working long before on the next version before they are done working out the problems with the current version.
No matter what anyone says, I find it extremely hard to believe that Microsoft is going to stop making OSs. Its practically impossible that a company will desert its core-competence, just like that. Maybe your sources are incorrect. Possibly.
You never know with MS OS is thier core product. Then again who ever thought that Bill Gates would have went back to college to finish his degree!
The next Windows edition will be "Windows: You Are Under Total Control" or "Windows: All your base belong to us"

Well you know after my last laptop purchase I really had to do some major soul searching. Then the math and money factor put it all in perspective and I have not suffered any major buyers remorse yet. It was buy a mac or a system for less than half the cost of the mac or buy one with vista preinstalled. So I grited my teeth and bought one with vista preinstalled.
