Hi DP Members, I run a website actually i have 3 in the past i have owned and resold over 30 websites i have tried every ebook every software and every tip but i can never manage to get the hold on marketing. Every time i begin to do well i realize i am actually not doing so good. My current website i can not get to 500 uniques per day i get 97 now but no conversions into sign-ups or revenue. I have tried all the ebooks and software and surprise surprise none work but i don't understand what actually does work i have done seo on my sites in the past and got better on and off-site seo than the main competitor but i still don't get high in the search engines. Now here is the big question how many times have you felt like giving up i am right now but i wont because i never have given up on anything. How do you market your site without paying i have seen other non paying advertisers getting well over 35000 uniques per month how is this possible. Any tips appreciated this is what i currently do. Submit Articles Submit To Directory's Submit To Tutorials Sites Bookmark In DIGG etc Submit To Classifieds Out of the above i get ok back-links but that is about it i need a method that is good at generating visitors i know others do it but the million dollar question is how. Thank you for reading.
Hi widewebtalk, You mention you run a website, but the three in your sig are for your affiliate for HostGator and two forums. Dio you consider one of the forums "your website"? if so, a forum is NOT a website...it is a forum. Without knowing which website you run, my questions are: How much of it is original content?...and I don't mean just moving words around and rewriting, but how much of it is original content as far as "thought and development"? How often do you add fresh, original conent to it? What do you sell? What are your strategies and techniques for selling? Would be interested in commenting if I knew which site you are referring to and your answers to the four questions above? Jim
Ha, about every 5 minutes. The only piece of advice I have is patience. Don't expect things to happen overnight, just keep working and working and you'll steadily have more content, steadily getting more backlinks, steadily have an older and more powerful domain, and eventually you'll get rewarded with growing traffic.
I felt like giving up and I did give up at one point...but then I got back again. I don't feel like giving up now unless I'm dealing with a moronic customer and I ask myself what's the point of it all. But, before I was making profits, I wanted to give up a million times. My advice on marketing technique is be consistent in what you do. One or two articles isn't going to help you. Also, look for good Joint Ventures. Best, Ana
i can tell you right now, your content is lacking. Thats the only reason why you wouldn't get alot of back links.
Rather than give up try to see if it's the market telling you to reorient yourself in someway. Maybe if you post some additional details members here will be able to target where exactly you could improve your product or service.
It's too late to give up, once you started something, you can not abandon like that! That's my point. I guess you tried many things, just think back of all things that worked and focus on that.
The site i am focusing on right now is my forum but i also have a freelance marketplace and i just sold off lots of small affiliate portals. I learn all the time and the word i am hearing more and more about is unique concept or content and i will be working on this also to make and of my site to be different from any others out there. But with general marketing i just cannot get to grips with it as it seems every single thing i try does not work for me but it is working for others i am losing money the more i go on with it. Money thats what it all comes down to getting that traffic you can get to convert to cash.
I like your thinking so far i have never gave up on anything and it has worked so i better make sure i keep on at it.
I think about giving up every single day but im in $155,000 (Last time i checked) worth of debt so.... I have to keep going I would consider maybe purchasing blog posts, that will help your search engine positions im sure
Wow that is a big debt mine is tiny in comparison that is what i am trying to do initial build a successful profitable website to pay my debts then to hopefully generate a income.
I have been working over 4 years full-time on my (sig) project and ,so far , I am not getting much. Patience and perseverance are what webmasters need -especially if they can't offer more than their time to succeed. For those who have loads of bucks, it's always easy for them. Cheers
I almost gave up years ago... it was around 2002... I was not making any money... my competitors were getting more and more funding... I had spent 2 years and had very little revenue to show for it... I put my site up for sale and accepted a low offer... but fortunately the buyer was unable to pay it all up front and I ended up backing out of the deal... That's when I decided to hold on to my site and make it more self-sufficient... since I didn't have time to run it.. why not let the community run it? It was the best decision I ever made... the next year Adsense came out and I finally had an income stream for my site... and things took off after that... Moral of the story... if you have something unique you really believe in... and are passionate about... keep at it... it may take YEARS before it catches on and takes off... the trick is to learn how to balance your time on these early non-money makers with your real life money makers (ie - a job... =)
In my opinion, you should work on a niche which you know and love. That returns success if you are lucky enough. Once you go there, you can invest your money to new projects. That is what happening to me. I am not a big earner yet but my way looks open. And i feel really bad when only problems occur like site crashes without any reason on my side..
