Cool. I'll probably be a little late, but I'm on my way. I'll be sporting a Lakers hat and a ShoeMoney T-shirt.
Was good meeting you guys.. I had a good time, and learned a few things.. I say let's do it again in a month !
My report: Pictures: (good idea! I'll bring my camera next month) Trip report: Traffic from the Inland Empire to Irvine was light 103-mile round-trip Lessons learned: 1) i'm a n00b and have a lot to learn 2) I learned of a good (clean, white-hat) method for generating traffic 3) I learned of a new niche that fits well in my current niche that can probably increase my earnings by 1/4. i've known of this for a long time but never knew it's earnings potential - now i'ma have to try it Synopsis: lighter than expected turnout. I had a nice time, and met some good guys
DOH! I missed it... dangit.... I'm down there every Tuesday for work too....... when will be the next meetup?
Twas a good get together. The picture thing crossed my mind but none of us look as good as our avatars. Don't let terabyte fool you, we were all listening to him saying "when I grow up I want to be like your web site" and we were thinking "if you weren't such a nice guy we'd hate you out of site envy". Thanks for the printed e-book. Turnout was exactly as I expected, 10 said they'd be there, half showed up including the four that were most active in this thread. I am sure the guys that attended would like to meet again in a month. I am suggesting we keep the time and day (last Sunday of the month, 3:00pm) so traffic should be light from any where between LA, OC, IE and SD. Location can be Irvine or can be adjusted depending on who's interested in attending. All in all, I had a good time talking shop with guys that brought diverse experience from those that couldn't make a dime with Adwords to those that couldn't make a dime without Adwords and guys that had internet experience dating back to before www to those who date back to 2006. See you guys next month.
I'm just getting online again after the meeting. Attendance was relatively thin, but Fox Sports Grill turned out to be a great place to have meetings. The Spectrum as a whole has grown a lot since the last time I was there. Terrabite took notes, so he'll probably be able to provide a better review. I was a little frazzled from my morning activities so I showed up a bit unprepared. Strangely, I was the only one drinking. I probably had the best time . We didn't take pictures. I thought to bring a camera, but my sweep through the diaper bags before I left yielded nothing. The adsense ebook looks to be a great resource for newbies - it's well written. I'll provide a review once I get a chance to absorb it all. We all talked a bit about current projects, and it was interesting to hear some of the business models of the guys in attendance. There was a definite lack of adult-area expertise, but we briefly discussed arbitrage, long-tail targetting, marketing strategies, and adsense. The meet lasted about three hours - maybe a little bit less. It was great to put faces to some of the names on the board, and felt really like an introduction - that perhaps we'd be able to have some very productive meetings in the future. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good thing to maybe do a monthly all around SoCal - hit up the Venice/LA area, head down to San Diego, and then Orange County and alternate between venues. Maybe quarterly if there isn't a great deal of interest, but frankly I'd spend the time just to talk in person with some like minded individuals monthly. Maybe call it a webmaster meet instead of a DP meet so we can drum up some interest from other forums. It would also be a good idea if maybe we designated one person to speak about something for each meeting - it might drum up a little bit of interest and get some ideas flowing. One thing is for sure - everybody at the meeting is dedicated to what they are doing. Terrabite footed the bill, unexpectedly. Three cheers for Terrabite!!!
nevetS, I forgot to ask, did the new baby arrive? Three cheers for Terabyte!!! P.S. nevetS won best dressed award. A shoemoney shirt is appropriate in any season in any venue.
i def agree on the part of having people talk about theyre own expert fields and maybe give a few good starter tips. it was fun for me as i normally dont meet other web masters. i think we could do it monthly and like nevets said , make it a web master thing instead of a DP thing. ill offer to host the next one at hooters here in Santa Monica if you like. We can get a list of people and what they will be talking about. the only thing is if you say your going to be there, be there. lol
