I don't know these rocommendation (as far I remember, G don't allow more) But it all depends of site content, if you page doesn't have much text or other stuff on it, it's stupid to put there 3 ads at once. So I would not answer so simply.
It's against google policies to put more than 3 ads per page read this https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=48182&sourceid=aso&subid=ww-ww-et-asui&medium=link
I did a years worth of experimentation with multiple adblocks, here is breifly what I would recommend. 1) the best CTR come from the Large square block within the main body of the page 2) 1 or 2 adblocks work best - at least with decent paying clicks (.25 - .99 per click) heres why: I found that when using 3 adblocks on my page, the click throughs DID increase - however, the EPC actually went down! I think the reason for this is that the higest paying ads are listed forst, then then next group and then even lower in the 3rd block - so while people were clicking down in the 2nd and 3rd group - those clicks were worth much less than thte first block - and while i was getting more clicks, my earnings actually went down! I would try 1 adblock first, then after you get a bout a moth worth of data, try adding a second, see if your average EPC changes - this might not make any difference if you are only getting a few cents per click GL
I would think your ctr would be worse with 3 ads? 3 ad impressions, 1 click. 33% ctr. So even if every visitor clicks an ad you have a 33% ctr.
I am getting more then 1000 clicks on one of my sites and I have 3 blocks on it but the average click is less then 2 cents. I removed two blocks and my clicks came down to 500-600 but the average earning per click went up but the problem is that the total earning from that site still hoovered around $20 a day so I have put all 3 blocks again and getting 1000+ clicks a day but the advantage is that when a new advertiser comes in my total earnings go up from $20 to 100+ that day then comming down for the next couple of days till the new advertiser adjusts thier bids and then settles down at 20 again Any way out of this shitty circle? or am I destined to get 1.5 cents a click on that site
I think it's the contrary, people tend to click on your ads more when there are less units... just from experience, I suppose each niche is different? But it would make sense to assume such things since.. the more ads = the higher probability that there will be an ad that interests them.
Honestly, it always depends on my site layout. 2 ad blocks is always your best option, but sometime 3 comes in for certain template styles.
Well said, it depends on your visitors! Does the page look cluttered? If you are getting low paying clicks, remove some codes and see if that helps - did for me
It all depends on the niche, where the ads are placed and how much is on the page. If you have a page with just 3 words and nothing else but 3 ad blocks... you aren't going to make much. But if you have a 500 page essay with a long ad on the right (or left), a large ad built into the content and then a footer ad, it might do better than just having the ad on the right or in the middle. Sorry to say, but you just have to test it yourself.
