Windows vista is more preferable because it is very simple to use in ways like winows older version while linux is not much understandable than windos vista

No one can defeat windows...... it was best,is best and will be best....... and linux is hard to understand...... so...common people will surely not use linux....... windows rockzzzzzzz..........

Depends on the persons use of the computer and what kinda stuff they want to do. Personally, I'll say vista for a home pc but linux for web servers.
Linux is just a bit more difficult than windows, but not all that difficult as many might think. I know I was using MS from DOS till windows XP and then switched to linux. At first it was difficult but at least when you learn to do something, you really understand it. I currently find easier linux (that I have been using for far less time) to windows. And so does my girlfriend who has never worked on a windows computer but only on my linux computers. Everybody can say "windows sucks" or "linux sucks" but you have to have some experience in both OSs to appreciate pros and cons in both of them. Finally, it really depends on your use of computer. Example: If you want to play games, linux sucks. If you want to install an application and be able to update the whole system, including applications, in one click, and not have to reboot, well, windows sucks.
I agree that Windows is easier compared to Linux. But I don't agree that it is the best or the most user friendly os. The best is certainly Mac OSX.
I do prefer linux over windows (XP or vista, same thing to me) but I don't agree that XP is for stupids. As I said before, most games come for windows, just as some great commercial applications. That is why most people will stick to windows. But besides commercial applications, windows cannot compare to either linux or OSX.

That's why I am trying to be a cool guy. Installed Fedora Core 2 , yet to check it completely though but I always like Linux. Will take time to learn but it's cool.
I have heard there are several fatal bugs and flaws in Windows Vista. I still prefer Windows XP More stable. I have not really used Linux myself.
