Crazy idea? or maybe not?

I was in the shower yesterday, and was just trying to review while under the hot water (best place to concentrate), the rankings of my sites, then started to think about dp's rankings..

Right now DP ranks #5 under "webmaster forums"
    http://www.google.com/search?q=webm...ent-ff&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGGL,GGGL:2006-41,GGGL:en

    And #64 under "webmaster"
    http://www.google.com/search?q=webmaster&num=100

I was just trying to think how to get both up to say..#2?
Because, well lets face it this is the best forum on the net..

    Then i thought..

Why not have blogs for members here?
I mean almost every user here needs a blog or is making a blog, and all of them are webmasters, this could help dp get a higher rank as well as more traffic
We could have blogs on subdomains like

    blogs.digitalpoint.com/Gnet

ive been watching its alexa rank and its at 115
i really want it to freaking get into the top 100 already!

I made this suggestion because ive seen shawn say "we have more power then we need" server-wise, so why the hell not?

    Any thoughts?

    Here is my break down

    Pros:
    1. More area for "revenue sharing" = More income for dp and us
    2. More backlinks/inbound links
    3. More Google activity!
    4. More people linking in, major technorati activity!
    5. More interactivity and social interaction at dp!
    6. Dp will become like a webmaster "starting ground" in a sense.
    Cons:

    1. Vulnerabilities
    2. Script Holes
    3. Violations
    4. Hack attacks (since blogs are much easier to hack, or as ive heard and seen and experienced)
    5. Possible "out of control spamming", where people make tons of blogs just to get dp to promote their own service : Solution : limit 1 blog per member..?

I want this idea to be implemented but its important to see where its faulty too

Shawn, i really really worked alot on this idea, you can shoot me down if you want, i don't mind.
But this time i need a better answer then just "Sorry, not going to happen." =/
ill be damned if i let it say at #64 under "webmaster"

That alone will generate a "Sorry, not going to happen. :)' reply!!! Shawn was so happy when DP got banned from having URLs submited to Digg!!! :D:D:D

    How come?

I dont get it why shawn is so negative about expansion, its not like im slapping a price tag on dp.

I know how shawn feels about dp, but this is in now way changing its course =/

Good idea -- It would need some more control, like a minimum post amount before getting a blog and mod's for the blog content to ensure quality levels... but I'd certainly be interested.

    Finally someone agrees with me.

Shawn is overprotective of dp, i understand that is why i actually think things through before i post them, i am not trying to make dp a spam house like other sites i perfectly undetstand how shawn feels of this site...

    Thanks to you too :D

DP is already expanding faster then a speeding bullet. Shawn and the mods already have their hands full and I can see hosting a bunch of blogs as being WAY more of a hassle then a benefit.

I already listed that fact in the flaws anyway like i said im looking at both good and bad things of this.

And i really don't get you mods, when i try to support the fact that "you have your hands full" one of you says "nop we are not overloaded :)"

And when i say you have time, you say *above post*
    Really...what is it?

Well i always try to support the guidelines in this area of the forum.
And there was this thread where a guy was proposing some crazy scheme or maybe it was some sort of complain so i said:

a mod comes out and says:

After i got the following two comments, i was confident that this idea would work:

    Shawn:
    mod

Now, if you tell me that i should disregard every comment that staff makes, fine.
I won't even post another suggestion here, i mean i spent the time carefully reading through guidelines and the way mods and admins feel about the overall functionality of the board then i actually posted anything....i had lie 23 ideas....this was the winner..

Right now im really fed up...ah crap screw it no more ideas >.<

    psst..

Dp is expanding in traffic and pr...not in over all google rank on specific keywords, which is the reason im pissed

I think it's a good idea. But if DP can't handle the speed of its growth, it's not really good to implement it.

Yea ill see if he says that, if he does, im gonna go ahead and say "Shawn is depressed or something"

    After giving out comments like...

"I'd rather close the whole forum down then make mods work more"
"Not gonna happen, i hate seo links (i call them crappy links)"

He's really not positive of any suggestion anyone gives, he is the webmaster, but i need a valid reason this won't work..
he could also just say "i just dont wanna go in that direction"

    id even accept that.. =/
