How to check if an application has been completely uninstalled ? Is it possible to verify that . by checking the registry may be ??
You can go into the registry but be careful. For example when I want to uninstall lets say McAfee, when the uninstall completes’, I reboot and then search the registry for ANY instance of the word McAfee and delete it. Depending on what application you are talking about, you will need to be careful.
i usually uninstall the programe, and then go to the programe files and delete the folders and files of that programe. then type in regedit, and search for values for the software, and delete those. once i got my system crached, and it took me again 2-3 hours to get back everything on track. on 98 i can repair that, but with xp, format is the only option. so try that on your own rist.
If it's Norton you have to securely scrub the drive and reinstall the OS If you go jacking with the registry, be sure to back it up 1st!
I always just use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, then delete any folders in the Program Files
why not use Registry Cleaner for this purpose ? I use Tune Up Utilities 2007 and works all fine for me
