Huge Variation in Content Network Impressions

    Hi,

We're on the content network and one day we get 200,000 impressions and the next we get 500. With nothing changing, why is there such a difference? I can understand it lowering over time as websites change but shouldn't this be fairly consistent if you're bidding the same amount?

    Thanks!

    Maybe someone blocked you.

    Maybe your QS dropped.

Maybe your ad(s) are getting rejected.

How long have you been on the content network?

The weird thing is that it all fluctuates drastically. One day "red box" gets 500,000 impressions and "blue box" gets 200. The next day it completely reverses. The day after that they both get 50,000.

Why is there such a drastic change?

No idea. Without the precise details it's next to impossible to troubleshoot.

It maybe due to some overlapping keywords in your adgroups.

Similar things happened with me in the past, after searching for answers I realized that my competitor is bidding more than me on certain days and on weekends they stopped their ads completely.

YES there can be big differences, simply because its very random which sites your ad actually apears on, and random where your ad is shown in the list of ads from other advertisers. It does also depend how competitive your keywords are

If you consider that there are lots of advertisers for any main keyword, then if your ad happened by chance, to appear on a high traffic site, or/and high up the list of ads, then you could get lots of impressions.

I have noticed the same kind of thing. I would make sure your keep your bids very very low for the content network, because the clicks are generally far less quality then on the Search Engine itself

    Thanks.

Crazy impressions again. Yesterday 500,000. Today 3,000. That is just nuts.

Oh, and we only seem to get our sales from content network. Sometimes, we don't even come up in search even when we're active and it tells us we should be 1-3 or whatever. I would think that as long as you pay enough, you should come up, even last.
