I am so desperate to see it! I am going to watch it this weekend with friends. I love the graphic-novel-to-screen adaptations that have come out in the last couple of years. Outstanding examples being Sin City and V for Vendetta.

I've seen it twice. Once at the regular theater and once at the IMAX. It's much better at the IMAX! :)

I'm a big Frank Miller fan and love the way it was filmed. It's like Gladiator and Sin City combined.

They should have made 300 a mini-series. Of course, that doesn't make so much money.
The movie is ok, the fight scenes are great, but the story and characters are undeveloped.
Since many critics compare it to a video game, I would say "300 is the Gears of War" of movies, if you played this xbox title. It looks great, spectacular etc., the fighting is great, bu it lacks everything else.

The older movies based on the "Battle of Thermopyylae" had a more realisitic portrayal....for example the Persian King Xerxes:

in 300 he is portrayed as a bisexual punk!

But all in all great picturization and action in 300!

    Holly,

That's what I like about Frank Miller adaptations. They are so over the top, they draw you into an alternate world of reality where you live for a couple of hours. Love it!

    bacanze,

The movie opens today in the UK.

I must admit, I didn't like it. Sure it has great special effects and state of the art fight scenes, but I'm kinda history buff and I really hate when history is exploited in such a way.

Fun to watch but otherwise no value (especialy historical).

That's because this movie is actually based off of a book which is a fantasy version of the battle of Thermopylae.

I haven't seen it yet but I want to!
