I am from a non-IT backgroud but I gotta job in IT company. My work is going to be on 'infrastructure' mainly of computers, like mainframe , servers and stuff. What does this mean to my job profile... Can u explain it
From the sounds of it you'll be responsible for the overall system layout. So you layout the network structure of how all the computers are connected (i.e. location of hubs/switches/routers), and probably maintaining that network. Depending on how they're setup you may have to deal with alot of technical and resource management issues. How in the heck did you get a job dealing with the overall network structuring if you aren't a technical person?
I dont know why they recruited me. I am a civil engineer. Perhaps they saw me as a good candidate and took me in!
I don't think you should go around mentioning your company name and your job profile in a public forum like this one. Also, if I'd been your employer, I wouldn't like my employee going around asking in public places asking what his job with me is going to be about. Better wait for your instructions from your seniors and work accordingly. I also read in your blog that you were not "really interested" in this job and all. Such comments/information is supposed to be kept low-profile and not posted in an open blog. Abhishek
