Good point LeoSeo. What's going on with those Specialist directories? They must have connections to editors!
Please don't take it personally. But you are wrong. Please go and add you site. It will be out of it in less that 10hrs. believe me. I tried it.
The Aviva page and the link are gone already You can see who axed them by viewing the deletion log: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=delete&user=&page=Aviva+Directory
I tried my site. They warned me that I am spamming and told that they will report the matter to adsense with my PUB number and also ban my IP. I ran out out of wiki... (ha ha ha...) . They have given the message as follows- "This is the only warning you will receive. Your recent insertion of spam, commercial content, and/or links is prohibited under policy. Any further spamming may result in your account and/or your IP address being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. You are, however, encouraged to add appropriate content to the encyclopedia. If you feel the material in question should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it."
Now that the links have a no follow why should wikipedia even care. I still do not understand why they only allow so many on that list. My guess is that the editors of that section want to help promote only certain directories and could care less about other quality directories out there. Those guys really need to lighten up, I can understand if crappy directories are trying to get listed, but there are some really good directories out there that deserved to be listed.
Hmmm...starting to look like DMOZ part 2. You figure corrupt editors can charge businesses and companies to have their articles added.
@steve Lol dmoz part 2 . I should start wiki-resource-zone.com soon too or maybe dmozpart2.com . But what is "PS" that i saw on few replies here?
I was the one who added the article about Aviva to Wikipedia and some git who probably doesn't have a clue has gone and deleted it, I have kicked off with Wikipedia about it and started an appeal.
I don't think so since anybody can be an "editor" at wikipedia and anybody can raise a flag of an article, link, word or anything. Why would you pay someone to add your article when you can add it yourself.
The text that pops up when you go to create a new article "Do not write articles about yourself, your company, or your best friend" and "Wikipedia is not an advertising service. Promotional articles about yourself, your friends, your company or products, or articles created as part of a marketing or promotional campaign, will be deleted" isn't there for deceration.
