Issues in the up comming election

What do you think the major issues will be in the up coming election?

As someone who tries to throughly research the issues, and then vote based on them, and the stances of the candidates on said issues, I'm trying to get a jump on my research work for the election ahead of time by researching issues first, so I can then spend more time researching the candidates later, once all of them make themselves known.

Below is the list of issues I think people will be slinging around. If you see any missing, please please PLEASE post them.

And if you have any links to data on these issues. Please post those too!
To quote Johny 5, before the election I intend to read "Data! Megabites and Megabites of Data!"

    Issues:

    The War in Iraq
    Civil Liberties (FISA/Wiretapping, McCain/Fiengold act)
    National Security
    Global Warming
    The Budget/Government spending
Candidate Trustworthiness (consistency on the issues, personal life)

    maybe
    health care
imigration if we don't get something from bush
i think health care is the single most important issue facing our country.
as it is it is a disgrace.

Hmmm. Yes. Immigration is an important issue.

As are Health Care and social security.

However I think one step in the realm of health care is to solve the illiegal immigration problem, and the problem of overly difficult legal immigration.

    Good calls.

i think bush is going to introduce legislations that will solve the imigration problem and it will have three components
    1-guest worker program
    2-eventual amnesty
    3-border security.
in the end i think buisness comunity is going to make enough republicans to vote with democrats and pass it and president will sign it
ofcourse it all depends on how fast he moves before an anomosity builds up between him and the congress

I'm not in favor of number 2, until both 1 and 3 are handled satisfactorily. Even after then, I'm not sure if I'd be in favor of #2.

I would say how people take care of their health is a disgrace.

Hospitals and doctors offices are full of people who are sick because of bad diets, stress, etc... and then go to the doc for drugs which will compound problems in the future.

If we have a federal health-care program it will only drive more people to see the doctor instead of dealing with the root / core of the problem.

Like welfare, it is an abused system - can always spot the food stamp person because of the crap they have in their cart. Full of junk foods, sugar coated cereals, soda pop, instant whatever, and I cringe when they pull out the Oregon card (food-stamp)!!! Then the same person is about 100% likely to be at the doctors probably about 10 times a year.

    Overhaul in desperate need!

a national health care plan is also the worst thing for us right now...if we can't support social security or control medicare, how are we going to control a national health care plan? Plus, a national health care plan only puts us one more step towards either being a socialist or a communist country...we shouldn't be relying on the govt for everything...we already rely on them for to much...

I think SS will be a big issue, along with immigration...The war on terror will also still be on the plate...

    i agree
i think they should start with the guest worker program.
this will reduce the number of illegal imigration as it provides a legal way for them to come here
then the borders can be secured easier and once that is done
a program must be made so the illegal imigrants can register and get some what of legal statue. this would be the easiest and least expensive way of handeling it.
we can not spend millions of dollars trying to remove so many people and even if we do the shock to mexican economy can create unforseen problems.

i agree and i think health education should be a part of any health care program to reduce the cost.

i don't understand why you think the cost of healt care would increse if there is some kind of national plan.
    lets consider these things
the same number of people will get sick regardless of if there is a national program or not
every one is getting medical attention now when they get sick some just don't pay
so the cost should stay the same.
just how it is paid is going to be diffrent.
i think california is starting a system and some other states are also experimenting with their version so we shouls be able to come up with something that would work.

This is a really historic election... LIKELY chances of our next president consist of one of three firsts ever:

    - Woman
    - Black
    - Mormon

I say kill three birds with one stone (err, well, not literally) and just elect Gladys Knight! :D

National Security will be the prime issue, again. Democrats continue to lose because of weakness on national security. When democrats actually put forth a candidate that will take our country's national security seriously and go after our enemies in the same fashion they go after republicans, they'll get back in the whitehouse.

There's that self-loathing I was talking about in the other thread! See, you can do it!

No one has been indicted or even charged for the outing. Theoretically, Wilson, Plame and Novak are the only ones so far identified as the outers. Novak should be brought up on charges, if anyone. The media should not be immune from treasonous activities.

Just been reading a great article on Rense.com and just about sums it all up. :D

    http://rense.com/general75/pick.htm

This is an absolute classic from it!

(referring to how all presidents are pre-selected.....)
Just remember peeps that the next President is not there to serve the people, he or she is there to serve the agenda. ;)

So you agree with me and admit that you don't know either. The special prosecutor knows, but is not bringing any new charges. Oh, forgot to mention Armitage's name as well.

Seems there are many to chose from who actually did out her, but you're not satisfied with those people. I can't imagine why
