Any dir owner who is not using phpLD script?

If you have implemented your directory from scratch please list it here and show us how good you are!

The first time I launched my web I submitted it to more than 600 dirs - all of them using the rubbish phpLD - that's why most directories suck

    Cheers

I am using site-sift in one of my directory.

But how did you say that
    ???

Most of the top rated directories are powered by PHPLD, like alive, aviva, directorydump, gii, romow, ewebpages and so many. PHPLD is so user-friendly and easy to install that's why most people use it. Also till now I haven't found any script which is so search engine friendly. If you are looking for quality PHPLD directories then you should visit http://www.avivadirectory.com/strongest-directories/ :p

I really don't understand why PHPLD would suck? especially on the submitting end of things. Easy SEO URLS and submission is a cakewalk compared to other scripts that take longer to submit.

    Hi,

I'm also using eSyndicat latest version.

    sports directory

I like the script but the latest version is not really stable and requires some fixing which is a pain if you have alot of directories.

You can not blame phpld or any other scripts for the quality of directories.
It is really depend on person who run the directory.

Best statement so far to this thread. Although I created index-it.net from scratch in straight html, I do not see anything wrong with the directory scripts that are out there. As long as you know what you are doing then any directory can do well regardless of how it was made.

banless, thats all purely html? you can spoof html with modrewrite for php - I would strongly advise converting your site to dynamic... you must spend countless hours updating static pages!

It took a few days to creat all of the pages, but to be honest everything is a breeze, I have a good system set up which allows me to make changes on the fly. The only problem I would have is if I chose to redesign the entire directory, now that would be a nightmare, but I could have it done in a few days.

I use wsnlinks on all 3 of my directories. I see no point in starting from scratch for a directory project. All the categories and links are unique, but the coding isn't.

My mate is an awesome dir coder, he's going to code a few with me soon when i get the cash to promote it. Check out this one he made, www.moosick.com its just a music dir, not general or anything but its the biggest music dir in England and im sure youll agree its design is pretty sweet.

Looks great but all those 404s aren't good :)

Does he just code the template or the entire script? Does he do all the admin stuff from scratch too? What about security? MySQL injections and bot spam?

While it's great to have something unique sometimes leveraging off the efforts of a bigger system does have benefits.
