britishguy: Can you give me a few examples?

    iceberg: Added above.

formula: This is a new concept ... almost all were started after Jan 1, 2007, and I expect to see a lot more this year. That is why I started this list. :)

jetbrains: Most are custom scripts. Not sure who has the Alphabetic List script. Maybe we will find out here?

How is that a Bid for Position Directory?

    about.php clearly states:

That is not a Bid for Position Directory ... fixed pricing for each page does not qualify as a BID. ;)

That dollarlinking is a wayyyy cool looking directory.

All this "bid for position" stuff is a bit like "kingofthebill" but in categories, do you think all the categories will just "stall" at a certain price?

    James.

seveneth: As far as I know, most are custom scripts. I am sure that software companies will be adding mods, or releasing new products in the future ... especially if these become popular. After all imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Solicitors Mortgages: Categories that stall are expected ... bids should be based on ROI. It is going to take a little strategy ... top of subcategory, category, home page links? Go for the top of page or last on page? *** I can see the eBooks already *** ;)

But it should open categories to advertisers that were not economical before. Most sites can afford $1-$2 feature links, regardless of category. Not everybody needs to be on the home page. :)

    Hi Guys

Can you please add my directory www.linkbidders.com

Oh yeah and by the way please feel free to submit your sites, I am currently running a promotion where everyone will get a $1 credit hence a permanent link for free. I plan to promote the site very soon, so it's a good opportunity to jump on board.

Sorry for the plug people :)

    Cheers

Bid for Position directories have opened up the door for link owners to stay away from page 50 of directories or search engines.

The most beneficial bid for position directories (in my opinion) are Niche as the competition is decreased even more for the advertisers. Especially those who are getting constant traffic.

It's been a success for me, especially with a very keyword friendly domain and top Google Positioning. (Web Directory List)

the keyword is rather small competition though. one of tools I used show only 33 times searched. Are you getting people from SEs or from DP only?

I will start an update at the top of page #2. ;)

The concept is quite flexible ... niche directories may prove to be even more suitable to the alphabetic list directory. Nothing like a bit of industry rivalry to get the bids going. :)

I get a few hits from the search engines each day ... but most directories are so new that it may take a while to get any kind of meaningful search results.

Nobody has mentioned that you can increase your bid by little bit each month. You can be a high bidder without the large cash outlay. Hmmm ... SEO on the layaway plan.
