Hi, I'm a web programmer by trade trying to get some of my own websites together. I've been reading this forum and other sites on internet marketing and have some general questions. If anyone has any ideas, or even just links, that is many thanks. 1. Should I set up multiple sites for 1 niche? My first idea is that I will have 1 main site, with many small feeder sites feeding into it. But then I thought those small ones might be competing against my main site. 2. I have my main-main site, my blog I will start for enjoyment. After that I want to focus on some niche sites to bring in some trickle cash. Should I focus heavy on one niche and try to saturate? Or dabble in multiple, multiple niches? Thanks for your ideas or comments.
I would focus your time and efforts into one site. I don't see the point of having multiple sites when you can consolidate into one web site.
Multiple sites work well if you are targeting multiple audiences.. eg Buyers and Sellers or Male's and females. The individual sites could be used to funnel in on the specific audience. You can also create mini sites geographically targeted. The only downfall is: It does create mor ework for you
Use feeders not only to filter your audience, but as an extra place to advertise, and a way to build your SEO inbound links to your main blog. Work only on niches you understand and are comfortable with, and use blog posts to sell to your audience. It doesn't matter how many sites / niches as long as you follow those rules but it will help if they are related and you can interlink your pages.
Thanks for your replies. I am leaning to the ideas expressed here, have 1 main site and concentrate on it. With that site, it may be good to have others in the same niche feeding it traffic while getting some small ad earnings. CJB
