Just talking about the PageRank it shows how important it is. Check the "length" of this thread. It is very important else people would not spend time and money on it ...
Unfortunately, that's faulty logic. People spend all kinds of money on bogus products and services that do nothing at all beyond a placebo effect or comforting superstitious beliefs. Check out some of the BST threads here, notably the one where someone is selling links from a student's page at an EDU site...
1. in the top 10 for what? unless you reference a search term, such a statement has no meaning 2. it's unlikely it's truly PR0 - I assume you mean Toolbar PR = 0, right?
We can divide this webmasters world to two group, first group believe that PR valuable, second group doesn't. Most people telling you that PR is nothing. But I think it's have some value, maybe little, if you think that.
i do not give that much important to page rank rather than the position of my site for the keywords that I have targeted and I do not expect to increase my Pr if my position is good
Well, let's see the two scenarios, Scenario 1) According to the survey report of 2008, more than 70% of the internet traffic is coming from the Google... Scenario 2) According to the survey report of 2009, more than 80% of the internet traffic is coming from the Google.. So, now you can see the importance of the Google very clearly...
PR... hmmm i have several website ranking #1st for their main keywords, most of these are new sites without any ranking.. my competitions sites have PR5-6 status but i get all the good traffic so to me PR is just a "E-Penis" thingee ohhh mines bigger than yours... really it does not matter, it adds value to your site if you were to sell it, but overall there is not much PR influence on SERP's.
I agree with zinghana as possible to rank a page well without PR although nice to have some PR as can't do any harm.
