I want to know that which type of forum is better in point of Search Engines Indexing, I saw some forums threads with html extention like http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/forum45.html , this daniweb forums threads are all with html extetion and I saw mostly threads have pr, as compare with DP it shows threads as http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5 , which I think not a search engine friendly.

So, friends what you say about this point, and how daniweb is using this type of forums ? I saw that both DP and Daniweb running vBulletin but Daniweb is SE Friendly and DP is not. why ? and how dani done this ? .

Actually currently I am running SMF forum but I want to run Search Engine Friendly forum which I think can drive more traffic. Plz tell me how can I run Search Engine Friendly Forum ? .

    Thanks in Advance.

I think its about URL re-write. The other day I saw John Scott of V7N thinking of doing the same.

But does not need to do that --does it. Its too popular and big to do that.

    DP ROCKS!!:D

of course , using mod re-write is better than a normal url . it will help you to get better ranking on search engine.

why dp forums does not use this function because it's the best webmaster forum. i agree with jhnrang. dp forums allways rocks on webmaster related keywords:D

the issue with archive and duplicated content worries is fake... there had been many tests done here on DP, u can search forums - its pretty much proven that vb has three types of content, forum index, print document, and archives - and neither of them will be flaged as duplicate by google. The reason is the way those pages are constructed, if you look at html its all different across three different views.

I`m not sure Daniweb use vBSEO or not, but this urls format could be done with "one click" from the vBSEO control panel!.

And v7n use it, he have the copyrights of vBSEO on the footer.

We support built in CRU presets that allow you to instantly configure your CRU (Content Relevant URLs) like WebmasterWorld, DaniWeb, vBSEO, vBulletinSetup, and vBulletinZone; with a single option selection.

This is available in vBSEO 3.0 GOLD, soon to be released.

As I am running SMF based forum and I found that in SMF there is option for Search Engine Friendly URL to on/off, I just on this and now I found that my forum is SE Friendly. Plz check my forum www.forums.webtechvision.com and tell me if its SE Friendly now or not ? . Plz also compare vBSEO Urls with SMF builten SE Freindly Urls. and if SMF SE Freindly will also work well or not ?.

    Thanks & Regards.

vbSEO is more than just content relevant URLs. It provides a lot of different features that you probably haven't thought about.

There's more to SEO than just url structure, but it does help, at least a little bit. The biggest thing you can do, IMO, is external promotion.

As far as the structure of URLs that is best, you could debate that for hours, and in the end, you'll just have to decide for yourself what you want to do. With enough promotion, URL structure won't matter - DP doesn't have a problem ranking or getting indexed. Regardless, I think that if your URLs are predictable it helps your visitors out, and it also helps with the occasional inbound link that ends up being keyword relevant simply because of the url structure.

I'd pass on more info about SMF, but I haven't played with it very much.

I am using MyBB and have made the URL's SEO friendly.

Also made print thread and archive as No follow. So no duplicate content.

I think vbseo is too expensive for what it does... I wanted to buy it bad one time, but now I decided to invest that money in something else.
