earned $146 yesterday, from one site. But donot know the source of traffic.

I am not complaining . Excuse me, but I just cannot stop grinning

I got tons of visitors yesterday on a niche site of mine, that I really did not promote much. 94% of traffic originating from USA. The site earned $140 in adsense in a single day.

The problem is I donot know the source of the traffic. I use a good analytics program, but it was showing no referrers. I quickly, switched to another very good stat program within an hour, but no result. I have some search engine rankings in msn, but it sent only 8% of the traffic.

I am happy, yet confused. And I did not buy any traffic too, so am confused.

Come to think of it, now I am going to really push forward with this site. Hire some writers to write content, change the looks, buy some adwords, links and blog posts.

Blank referrers are a nice way to get banned from Adsense. I would make more of an effort to find out where that traffic is coming from in case you need to defend yourself. How big was the surge in traffic? Someone could have mention you on the radio, TV, etc. I know a lot of webmasters who got in trouble because of no referrers in their logs when their Adsense spiked all of a sudden.

 

Almost 70% surge in traffic. But the ctr was well below 10%. I am trying to find the source of the traffic, still no results. If there is such a hidden source, man I would be happy to pay for it , provided they have some referrers in the header.

70% surge is pretty big, but not THAT big. So I'm guessing someone did mention you in a newspaper, radio, or on TV, because if someone had linked to you online, you would see referrers. This type of mass blank referrers are only possible when the user has to go to the Internet and manually type in your URL. What you can do is put up a quick poll on your site (if you're still getting these blank referrers, I mean) and ask people to "comment" on how they heard about your site.

Thats awesome, I hope to get that kind of revenue from Adsense one day. Earning from Adsense, but not as well as I'd like.

that's very good, i wish if you at least share some pointer of your idea, if you not sharing URL, I'm sure there is a lot out there to share and yet you wouldn't even notice in value, but others would learn/try to do something like that, even if we put similar content website I'm sure we wouldn't get traffic like you do out of nowhere

but in either case, my congratulations! keep it up!

 

Have you looked in your logs? Is the new traffic direct type-ins?

 

It's great that you are having that kind of success. I try to keep track of who clicks where with channels, tracking..etc.. The advice when you have days like that is to contact google and tell them you are worried about your clicks and ask them for help with the referers... It's worked for me in the past

 

It is a health related website, I posted some interviews by some specialist doctors and experience of patients suffering from the condition and how they cope with it. Costs me a tidy sum, but now it seems its paying me back.

 

You might getting type-in traffic!! hm.. is it www.health.com ?

On your logs the "referer" field is always blank ?
If yes, it's very strange. Could be with all visitors coming through a proxy site (with blank referer field marked) but no probable

What about proxy clickers and spammers, lol sound like someone will get in trouble soon, but how much your average per day, or is it just another thread ?

 

Why not just ask your visitors how they got there - I mean personally if it was me and I saw a 70% surge in visitors I'd want to know the source ASAP so I can thank them and hope for their continued support.

Maybe setting up a simple submission form asking people how they got there - I mean you really only needs a few response to work it out then remove the form and proceed to kissing some ass. That's what I'd do.

 

Use Channels. This is why they were made!!!
